Well, no use in mining, sorry. It's missing core features for it to be used for doing work (OpenCL).

Actually, GPGPU doesn't require OpenCL or CUDA, but programming your video card to calculate hashes is probably near-impossible! (and BTW: a quad core i5 is probably faster anyway)

How about ATI 4650? Would that help me mine some coins? How many Mhash could I expect from a card like that? The computer is fairly old with just 1GB of memory in it and about 2GHz of CPU. It's my old desktop...

This is a good place to look for stats on GPUs: http://pastebin.com/AvymGnMJ. A 4650 should expect about 33Mhash/s. In slush's pool, 1Mhash/s is about 1 share per hour, and each share is roughly .002BTC. So, a conservative estimate of 30Mhash/s would put you at mining 1.44BTC/day. Hopefully that will cover the cost of the electricity you will use mining that!

Basically, nVidia cards need to support CUDA, ATI cards need to support OpenCL in order to use them for mining. Just check the links below and you will know:

Another option to test if your GPU has CUDA/OpenCL is to download Caps Viewer (http://www.geeks3d.com/20110208/gpu-caps-viewer-1-10-0-geforce-gt-440-improved-opencl-support/)

The quickest way I've found to test the hashing ability of a CPU is to download the miner from this thread http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3486.0 and just see what you get. If you have an account at one of the pools, you don't need to install bitcoin to run the miner. I'm sure there's a list out there somewhere, but CPU generally seems to be a small bonus hash to people looking to mine lots of bitcoins.
