Nowadays you need special rigs called asics to have decent returns. You may have some profit though by mining alt coins with gpus

Depends on the way you are looking for.

With technical skills, if you are smart with your skills, you can earn a bitcoin very fast.

You'd probably be better off mining some of the derivatives until you get your feet wet.  There are people who sell machines dedicated to mining, but I've heard of shadiness going on among them (e.g. ButterflyLabs) such that you'll pay for it one day and end up waiting months to get the product, at which point it's already obsolete.

I made a couple of thousand in like a total of 40 minutes, then lost it all plus another $1500 USD x_x

So yeah, it depends on really what type of earning you are looking to use.
