was looking for hardware on craigslist and run into these 2 characters under selling their miners. I knew it when I contacted them, but just wanted to have some fun. In a word, beware and never send any BTC before you have any equipment on hand

.
this was was 550G for $4k (sells on ebay for $20k)

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/sys/4216582301.html

this one selling by the gig at $9. An erupter that is selling on ebay for $40+ he wanted $3. mmmmmmmm let me guess, scammer lol

Scammers are everywhere if you want to make a deal that works

do the following

- Escrow ( John K )

or a trusted site with proven shipments and reviews that are good

I found a good deal on craigslist tonight. The seller has agreed to use escrow so we'll see what happens. No escrow=No sale!!

is it the same person from the first ad? Because i'm emailing him trying to get a face to face trade done. For some reason, he declined my offer of paying with cash, but now he only wants bitcoins. Strange Tongue

Hi. I am interested in your KNCMiner Jupiter you have for sale on Craigslist. I will pay with cash, and come pick it up from you.

Quote from: craigslist_guy
Bitcoin only.

Please let me know soon the miner will probably be sold soon anyway.

Quote from: ssateneth
I suppose I can manage that too, but I will still only do a face to face trade, and I will only pay the BTC after I can personally verify you have the jupiter in hand and it operates normally (I'll likely bring a laptop or something to remotely control my wallet to send BTC. Also, BTC to be paid will be determined at the time exchanging hands of the KNCMiner Jupiter miner)

Quote from: craigslist_guy
That's fine Paul, but I won't be around for you to verify it as this rig will have to be shpped.  If your not interested let me know now I have other buyers with interest.

Quote from: ssateneth
I can wait for you to be done with vacation or whatever you are doing before coming to pick it up. I will not pay you ahead of time, if that's what you're trying to hint. I've been around the block more than once when it comes to scams, and such a valuable item like this is not exempt from that. I will -only- do face to face trade. No exceptions.
I'm implying that I will come to you. You don't need to do any traveling, aside from picking up the mining device. When you say you will ship it out, that implies that you will have in-hand access to it, which makes it possible to just trade it face to face anyways, since you'll have it in hand.

Quote from: craigslist_guy
Yes Paul but what I am trying to get over to you is that I have been trying to sell this device for over 2 weeks now and have had buyers flake on me.  So now the next person that sends me BTC will get the rig.  I am waiting on a buyer now, so I do not feel like waiting for you to make the trip, and who knows if you will make the trip anyway.

Quote from: ssateneth
I will be there tomorrow or the day after. I have no reason to flake on you. Don't be trying to urge me to send you bitcoins right now. I'm very familiar with those tactics and it won't work with me. If you aren't going to accept doing a face to face transaction within 2 days, then don't even bother replying to this email.

Hasn't replied since. Go figure.

Sounds familiar? The emails are the same lmao  Grin

I can't risk another buyer flaking out so the rig will be gone by tonight anyhow.  I am going to take the highest offer that I have right now.  Thanks for the interest, and good luck on your search.

Okay ME, so would it be more convenient for you if I shipped?
And what's the amount that you have currently?  The only reason I ask is that if I ship it to you, I would accept 2 up front and 2 after you receive the rig and confirm it working.  Let me know how this sounds, so maybe I can work with you while you get more bitcoins.

Well, I live in Boston, doing a contract in Chicago and will only be there on Sunday. I can pay you 4BTC, although I have to sell a ton of crappy coins and that will take a day or 2.

Ugh, the issue ME is that I am literally getting so many offers for this rig, that I really do not expect to have it much longer than tonight.  I am willing to ship it to you because I will not be around until sometime next week, since I am in Philadelphia visiting family for Thanksgiving and such.
I am only saying this because I am going to take the highest offer soon, because I've been trying to sell this rig for over a week and it's been a hassle.

Yes it is working!

Price in bitcoins is 4 BTC.
If you can do that let me know ASAP, I have another buyer waiting to send me payment, although he only offered 3.7 BTC.

So if nobody is able to offer me 4, the device will be sold within an hour.

by the way, i bought several used GPUs on craigslist for a fraction of what they were selling on Ebay and after a year of abuse they are still hashing. The exchanges were in person in a public place and with cash. Actual one even took me to his home to show me the 2 6970's were working. The cost? $150 for both  Grin
