I would like to post this in the MultiBit Forum, but I can't as I'm a new member in the Bitcoin Forum.

I've a MultiBit wallet (probably version 0.5.13 or 0.5.12) which I copied from Ubuntu to my Mac. Clever as I am I deleted the files on my PC before testing them on my MacBook. I never had any problems with MultiBit, but you know Murphy's law.

Now when I'm trying to open that wallet file on my MacBook with MultiBit 0.5.15 I get following error message:

Unable to load wallet "/Users/dumbidiot/mutlibit.wallet" or backups. See help on "Wallet Backups" for more details. The error was "com.google.bitcoin.store.UnreadableWalletException Could not read wallet".

That MultiBit can't load the backups I understand. I only copied the wallet file itself (yes, I'm trying really hard to become the dumbest Bitcoin user of the year).

Is there anyway to repair that wallet file? I've already tried to recover the private key according this tip: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=43616.msg909038#msg909038, but I read somewhere that it works only with wallets created before 2012 and indeed I couldn't find the mentioned hex in the file.

Thanks,
Bastian
