hi,

I'm stuck with setting up GPU mining on linux (openSUSE x64). cgminer doesn't want to see/use my card. I'm wondering if I can use cgminer with 'radeon' (open source) driver or I only have a chance if I stick with 'fglrx' (proprietary official) driver? And as I understand with 'fglrx' I have two options: get it from AMD website or use openSUSE repo (is there any difference except of a way to install?)

and when you come to AMD driver page it says: "32-Bit packages must be installed for 64-Bit Linux drivers to install or work". It makes me think that probably I should stick with x86 version of environment rather than with x64. Or I get it wrong?

thanks

ah, never mind...

appeared, that driver works fine.

But the problem is I can't use it as root since X server is started for user I log in. Weird. I'm still figuring out the issue, cuz it keeps me from running a miner on headless server :|

I can't start a server:
Code:
> X

Fatal server error:
Server is already active for display 0
If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock
        and start again.

...which is true:
Code:
> ps aux | grep X
root       788  0.1  1.7 291236 69448 tty7     Ss+  04:05   0:02 /usr/bin/Xorg -br :0 vt7 -nolisten tcp -auth /var/lib/kdm/AuthFiles/A:0-HMOQYa
root      3667  0.0  0.0   7056   868 pts/1    S+   04:35   0:00 grep --color=auto X

neither I can access display:
Code:
> DISPLAY=:0 fglrxinfo
No protocol specified
Error: unable to open display (null)
