let you play minesweeper
act as a heater
blow hot air at you
act as a paperweight, coaster, or bookshelf
lull you to sleep with its hum
act as a conversation starter to anyone who dares enter your mineshaft

space heater. in august. on a 100f degree weather.
Fucking right, friend. This Texas draught is killing me, many many weeks straight of pure 100% HEAT, (no clouds) 100+ days. WHY DIDN'T I DISCOVER BITCOIN DURING THE WINTER?

I use my dedicated PC for mining, browsing the net, emails etc, this takes a toll on my mhash/s. I am thinking about picking up a $35 ATI 5450 and use that as my main gpu, make a dummy plug for my 5830, insert my 5830 in my second pcix x16 slot. This way, the 5450 will take the load off of my 5830.
Just an idea if you are on one pc and do not want your mining gpu to take a toll for doing gpu accelerated stuff.

I live in Canada and my place of work has been reaching 120F average, it's been as hot as 148.2F a couple weeks ago (set new record of 118F outside (I work in a powder coating shop during the day with an oven the size of 2 cubevans running at 400C all day) Needless to say, on that 148.2F day, I was given the choice of whether I felt "safe" working that day or not. My answer was obviously a "Fuck no!"

Help Bitcoins by buying clothes, technology, books, etc. through people/stores that accept BTC. This will increase overall value of BTC as well as mitigate unnecessary bank transaction fees.

You could run a Minecraft server. You know, so you can mine while you mine...

one of my rigs was already my email server and download box running headless anyway. another was/is a file server and another my HTPC (using the onboard graphics as the main display). all of them were always on before I started mining

That's a good idea to use it as a file server, if the motherboard supports RAID1 or RAID5. My problem is that the my dedicated rigs are all out in the storage room and it's HOT out there, when I touch the bare hard drives they nearly burn my hand, so I wouldn't want to put important file storage into that environment (I hear hot = bad for HDD's )

I actually put mine to work on World Community Grid doing research on things like cancer. (we call it crunching) In fact it is the reason I started mining...to help fund more crunching rigs and pay the electric There are a bunch of us over at Xtremesystems (a computer forum) that have added cards to our rigs to do this. come pay us a visit. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?207-World-Community-Grid-(WCG) Need more rigs and stuff??? Those of you with an interest might want to have a go at winning stuff in another computer forum's BIG Giveaway If you join to have a go then tell them Grumpy sent you.... http://forums.pureoverclock.com/showthread.php?13741
