Surf the web, or if I want to play a game, I take one card offline and use it for gaming.

You could run a Tor node if your internet connection is good enough.

I'm Bot mining in Runecraft (cpu usage) making $6.5 a month per bot... think 1 bot per 500 Mhz/512 Ram * # of cores.
Makes your CPU profitable mining while your graphics cards are mining.

You can play Dragon's Tale Bitcoin Casino @ http://dragons.tlThat way you can gamble away all the bitcoin you just mined.. LOLOL jk XD Seriously Though it won't effect your hashrate and it actually uses a VERY VERY low amount of CPU/GPU usage You can play Facebook Games like Farmville Zynga Dominates the Market but there alot of other fun games like Monopoly Millionaires , Scrabble , Tetris , Pack Rat , ETC

I download torrents on one, and I keep backup data on another. Setting up a tor node might be fun

what else can the mining rig do while its mining?
can we like host some website
or sell backup space for someone
or what other suggestions
I find Bitcoin miners to be excellent cheese melters and food dehydrators. Simply put an even larger rack over your video card rack and you're in business

Does that cover the additional electricity used for the CPU?

This is equivilant to not mining. Or very low hashing anyways

space heater. in august. on a 100f degree weather.
Fucking right, friend. This Texas draught is killing me, many many weeks straight of pure 100% HEAT, (no clouds) 100+ days. WHY DIDN'T I DISCOVER BITCOIN DURING THE WINTER? Luckily, i can tolerate this houston weather. i can handle up to 110-115 before i get fried. winter, not so much, even it's only 40-50f. I live in Canada and my place of work has been reaching 120F average, it's been as hot as 148.2F a couple weeks ago (set new record of 118F outside (I work in a powder coating shop during the day with an oven the size of 2 cubevans running at 400C all day) Needless to say, on that 148.2F day, I was given the choice of whether I felt "safe" working that day or not. My answer was obviously a "Fuck no!" WTF? 148 degrees in Canaada? I thought you were our colder cousin!? You need this son'o'bitch right here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003MQBYYU?ie=UTF8&tag=bsb011-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B003MQBYYUIt was 105 degress in my NYC basement studio apt now it's 68... even with full mining on 5 cards going... ahhhh

I actually put mine to work on World Community Grid doing research on things like cancer. (we call it crunching) In fact it is the reason I started mining...to help fund more crunching rigs and pay the electric There are a bunch of us over at Xtremesystems (a computer forum) that have added cards to our rigs to do this. come pay us a visit. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?207-World-Community-Grid-(WCG) Need more rigs and stuff??? Those of you with an interest might want to have a go at winning stuff in another computer forum's BIG Giveaway If you join to have a go then tell them Grumpy sent you.... http://forums.pureoverclock.com/showthread.php?13741Yes, some BOINC or F@H project would be a good way to contribute your computing power.

Yes, some BOINC or F@H project would be a good way to contribute your computing power.
+1 mining does not take much CPU and F@H (the SMP [CPU] client) is a low priority task, ie does not take away from the miner resources.
