I don't know, it's acting strange. So, I tried the latest client version (0.10.4.1), which doesn't show my restored wallet and has corrupted the data of version 1.8.8. SOL. Edit: I got in with the folks on Telegram and it seems version 1.8.8 will never finish syncing, because some blocks are corrupted in a way that prevents this version from syncing, hence why it kept on backtracking.

The recovery and backup is just to recover the address of the wallet. You can check whether there is a coin in your address in the block browser. The default block of version 1.8.8 block is on disk C. If you run 0.10, it will also be loaded on Disk C, then the 0.6 core block must be damaged, but there is no problem with the backup file!

I currently have the latest version of the wallet syncing and although I can't see my pending coins yet, it does display the send and receive history, so I think it's ok. I'll let it sync with the hope it'll resolve on its own.
