How and in what manner are you choosing the winner? 3BTC seems like quite a big prize for this, so forgive my scepticism.

This is a generous offer, but I won't be participating till you do as hilariousandco said and put the money in a trusted escrow. It's too easy to promise BTC for a service and then just disappear.

I don't think you have enough exclamation marks in your title... One more and I would've been convinced that this is not a scam!

as karl pilkington would say, this is bollocks.. why should anybody trust you? i at least give you credit for at least having a scheme instead of straight up begging for bitcoin.

what does he get for offering this many BTC anyways?
Facebook likes, apparently. It could be a really good idea - I'm sure he'd get plenty of them if he found some way of proving that he actually owns, and is willing to give away, the bitcoins. It also wouldn't hurt to tell us how you're planning to randomly pick a winner, too, to prove that you aren't going to "give" them to yourself after getting hundreds of likes. Also - and this is just a tip for getting more participants - if you offered six rewards of 0.5 BTC each, I'm sure people would be much more likely to participate.

I agree, but to be fair. You should use an escrow. So you get what you really want.

Facebook likes, apparently. It could be a really good idea. I've seen many-a-thread offering BTC prizes for likes and/or website hits, then they just disappear, and you get a load of newbs asking "y u no pay me, mr Bitcoin man?".

Hmm.. good guess. He is not European / American and neither he is a fluent English speaker. I think he is from China. Check this out.

C'mon guys, let's be fair to him, him being Chinese has nothing to do with whether he's being honest here.
However... I really don't think he is being honest here.

well, if he's a chinese chap why is he doing this giveaway in english... as opposed to chinese (to people in china)? maybe he's just expanding his "BTC donation markets." scammers come up with an online gameplan and try to spread it across the markets to get as much as possible.

It's the logo that did it for me. Clearly a lot of thought and effort went into this.

but if he is not honest, why would he promote a facebook page (instead of his own website) with a name BitcoinGiveaway. If he doesn't giveaway as he promised in 2 days. People will just move away from him. But!! what if he givesaway to his own wallet? Sounds like fun

Like you said, he can just give it to himself, and say that it is a random anonymous user. He also wants you to post your address on Facebook, this means he would get your personal information, why would you want him to get their hands on your information?
