I hadn't really thought that out....  Maybe a bitcoin symbol on a coin-like object on the flap, smallish but recognisable, with a border around the case itself -- something leafy and organic?  (Maybe a grape vine with grapes?)  I'd have to play with sketches for a bit.  Or you could run it past your brother and see if he has ideas. :-)

Trust me when I say that he'll put flames all over the wallet if given free reign. He's been called the Salvador Dali of leather. He could have flames shooting out of grapes and you'll still want to grab one and eat it. He can easily combine the Molly Hatchet and Meatloaf LP covers into one piece of artwork--leather or otherwise. If you can draw a picture using only words where he can capture it in his mind's eye, he'll be able to recreate it as art.

But if you truly want something sweet and leafy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66151463@N04/6026480513/in/photostream/lightbox/

ROFL!  Good point.  It doesn't have to be sweet, but I'm not a cyberpunk type either.  Let me think about the design a bit, and I'll upload a sketch.

I might consider it if the image "B" boundaries were actually like (I moved the image provided by pekv2 below the fold)

or if the leather was branded exactly like the entire coin above.

Thank you, pekv2. I'm going to use your design idea for the second wallet (see first post of this thread) therefore, if you don't want it, I'll keep it.

But I'll need you to answer a few questions first, in regards to the design element. You desire the boundaries the same as the image below. When you say boundaries, are you speaking of the border with the 3D shadow effect? Or that, and how the image is depicted in the field of the coin, for my brother-in-law can hand tool this exactly as you see it now? Is that the symbol B you prefer, opposed to (see image in the first post of this thread)? What about the shadows around the letter B? What about the cut-pie/color-wheel effect of the inner circle surrounding the letter B?

If anybody else wants to add their input for the design, please let me know via this thread or PM.

I mean exactly like the border of the B in the image, I believe is the original Bitcoin symbol B. For the shadows I don't know, can that be done? But yea the Bitcoin symbol, as for the entire coin image with shadows etc, I think it would be wicked, if it could be done. I believe when I look at the current B on the wallet with a line through the left hand side bottom of the B, it looks bland, just imo.

This wallet is being tooled while I speak type. As mention at the onset of this thread, the first wallet will be a basic model, and for all intent and purposes, it's already sold with only slight design modification. The second wallet was going to incorporate my design elements gleaned from feedback on this board. Your idea of the other B is one of those elements. The third wallet will consist of giving the artist free reign with the design, thereby allowing him to showcase his artistic abilities to the fullest. The next wallet, after these three, could easily incorporate as many features you have gracefully suggested. It won't be available until next week though. I apologize for that. Of course, I'm not thinking that you have formally order this wallet, because you haven't. I will make sure, though, that you will have the first option to purchase it. I hope that's fair enough.

Expect to see the first images of these hand tooled leather wallets, bearing the Bitcoin thems, either tomorrow or no later than Friday.

Quick question, folks, from my brother-in-law, Martin. Does this image of Bitcoin have a trademark?

Same here. I'd be more interested in one without the button strap on it, and black if possible.

I've been talking about upgrading my Velcro red dragon wallet that I picked up when I was 16. It's turned blue from the dye in my jeans lol.

If Martin could do this, then rest assure he could tool a Bitcoin Breathing Red Dagon for you: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66151463@N04/6031236956/in/photostream

I went to Martin's studio to see how the wallets are coming along, and he wasn't there. So I glanced at the progress to date (my first glance, for he's keeping the project under wraps even though it's our project and my idea--these artist!), and saw what design he's tooling for the third wallet. I don't want to let the dog out of the house, or whatever that idiom is, but if there are any Irish folks on this board, you're simply goin' to love this tooled design. I now truly feel there's something special at the end of the rainbow for Bitcoin.

With that said, here's another example from M.B.'s collection: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66151463@N04/6032136286/in/photostream

Update on the first 3 prototype Hand Tooled Leather Wallets:

The hand tooling is complete. Most the dyes have been applied, waiting to dry. Once dried, the stitching and lacing will be the final step.

The next Bitcoin theme product will be a hand tooled leather purse or laptop case: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66151463@N04/6034047396/in/photostream

http://www.flickr.com/photos/66151463@N04/

If you think this is rad, you should see the half sized, hand tooled leather rhino Martin was commissioned to build. He's been working on it for the past month--between projects. He's been sworn to secrecy, and won't even let me in on who, or what, it's for.

Thank you, newminerr, for a wallet request and letting me know about Andrew at http://carbonism.deviantart.com/. I used his Bitcoin art image only as an inspiration for one of the wallet designs. I'm sure he won't have a problem with that in regards to it being using it in that fashion. But, if I were to use that exact image in print or on a website, then yes, I would have made sure I had permission to do such. Please pass this post along to Andrew, if you don't mind.

I think the wallets are going to be ready later today. I will keep you all informed.

Until then, here's another image I just uploaded to Flickr--A hand tooled leather seat by Martin, mounted on a Dickhead creation: http://www.flickr.com/photos/66151463@N04/6035426919/in/photostream

Update: As Promised.

Martin is lacing the wallets as I speak type. He won't unveil them to me until all three are complete. Artist can act weird sometimes. Why can't they be normal like all of us?

Allow me to share something ironic with you: I'm typing this while covered in decade old pigeon and raccoon shi poop, sawdust, hay, and some kind of black soot, so that I can provide you this update about leather wallets, of which the leather may have came from the cow whose great-great-great-great...-grandparents could have lived in the barn I'm now in the process of deconstructing, hence being dirty. Yes, I washed my hands before typing that long ass sentence. I don't want you all to think I'm a pig.

On second thought, here's a picture of me taken 22 years ago in Nashville (That's some Pig!: ~Charlotte's Web): http://www.flickr.com/photos/66151463@N04/6036675197/

Thank you kindly for your interest, FaerO. I apologize for the delay in uploading the images and addressing your question on pricing in this post.

I'm cropping the photos now. Then I'm uploading to Flickr before finally posting the images, specs and pricing of the wallets on this board.

Please stay tuned.

I was hoping to have this up last night, but it was getting late and I was so darn tired. Everything is set, and I'm now ready to post the images, specs, pricing, etc. I'll be posting all this relative information in a new thread. Look for it in a few minutes. Thank you kindly for all your feefback on this thread. I hope the first hand tooled leather wallets live up to your standards.

The location of the new thread is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=37094.0.
