Describing "legal to use" with "legal tender" is highly misleading.

Legal tender would mean you can pay your taxes with it and anybody you owe a debt to would be forced to allow you to settle in bitcoin.

Legal to use is far less of an accomplishment.

Describing "legal to use" with "legal tender" is highly misleading.

The anchor actually said "legal tender" and "valid for legal and tax purposes". Whether she actually knows what she's talking about is unclear.

Also wow there's a really hot chick who seem to understand Bitcoin! Thumbs up from me  Cheesy

It's all bullshit. But bullshit makes the flowers grow and that's beautiful.

I think the rule of "No capital gains tax" in Germany would still hold true.

Lucky bastards.  Someone needs to set up a company in Germany providing services to Bitcoin investors around the world, to somehow take advantage of the withdrawal perks of Germany ...

It's recognized as private money, but it can't be used to pay off debt (I have to accept Euros but not Bitcoins), or goverment debt. You can not pay taxes in Bitcoin, you have to pay the equivalent in Euro to the Gov.
You can do legal commerce with them, but that's kind of old news rehashed now.

Basically it has the same legal status as gift vouchers.
