I just thought to start a thread on the reasons behind why YOU mine/buy/hoard/trade/invest in certain altcoins.

Give us your top coins and a quick blurb about why you are involved with the coin.

Reasons can be:

good dev
good concept
strong community

or

pump and dump
want to get rich
hookers and blow

whatever goes!

No personal attacks unless you can back it up with proof.

For example :

Dev "x" is a scamcoin dev because he did "Y" please see thread "z" <--------This is allowed.

Person "A" is a scum sucking dirtbag because I said so <------not allowed.

Also you don't have to reveal how many coins you hold blah blah blah, only a retard would do that.

I'm liking digitalcoin, really under priced at present and exciting projects in the not too distant future.

Also stablecoin is looking like a good hold till at least $2-$3 with the work being done on that coin in China. Solid coin now since re-launch.

Bitcoin:

Large marketcap, strong network, huge community. The grand daddy of all coins. Bitcoin is the gatekeeper for anyone wanting to buy into altcoins, which gives it immense value to the altcoin community.

Litecoin:

Strongest scrypt network, faster tx confirmations. Large marketcap, good alternative to Bitcoin. Google pedigree behind it. Max Kaiser also supports LTC.

Digital Coin:

Undervalued. Good community. Crypto-Ave sounds promising, I can't wait for SRC/DGC/ARG to fiat trading. Digital coin is full of diehard supporters so this coin is definitely going to be around for a long time.

Worldcoin:

Good community. Increasing hashrate and marketcap. Scharmbeck looks promising, WDC to fiat should help this coin gain a large foothold in the altcoin arena

Stablecoin:

ARTOS IS BACK. Good dev who should deliver what he is promising. Coin mixing integration with wallet should help us defeat coin validation should that become an issue. Also Hazard is backing this pony and In Hazard We Trust.

Feathercoin:

Strong community, strong network. They know how to promote cryptos to the everyday man. I don't agree with how the coin was launched with the instamining and the fact that the genesis block is stolen from litecoin. However that is in the past and I see great things for FTC.

AndroidTokens:

100% PoS. Dedicated Dev team, although community is on the weak side. Lack of PoW mining means that price suppression from mining and dump is pretty much non-existent. Undervalued when compared to similar coins. ADT is a nice easy coin to trade for all you day traders out there.

In no particular order.

Anoncoin - Interesting concept, I think it has a good community although they aren't as loud as some others, could see it moving into the top 10 market cap wise, still kinda cheap I think.

Freicoin - I just like the idea of demurrage and I think that makes it a very unique coin, solid community, will attract idealists in the long term, good long term investment, won't buy any more in the short term.

Quark - Great coin technically, lots of issues though, I can see the hype + price picking up again in the short term, medium-long term I have no idea, could replace bitcoin, could fizzle to nothing, i have not idea, i've got some anyway Tongue

Namecoin - solid practical use, i'm not going to buy any more though as I think the cheaper alts are a better investment short term.

Franko - Nothing special except that I think it has a great community and ideals and is still really cheap considering that, wouldn't be surprised if the price went up 10x in the next couple of weeks. Great longshot that is still relatively safe.

Tagcoin - Interesting idea with commercial value, also cheap imo.

Goldcoin - Don't know how much I like this one, but seems like it's community is doing a good job of promoting it.

Worldcoin (WDC) - transaction speed is vital. Ever miss out on a trade opportunity while waiting an hour for Bitcoin confirmations? Worldcoin is a leader among the up and coming generation of fast coins. As people actually begin to use cryptocoins on a large scale, they will become frustrated by delays. WDC targets practical usage.

An exchange is being launched to simplify direct USD/WDC conversion. It will allow enable users to buy WDC with the same ease that Coinbase has provided to help support the rapid growth of Bitcoin. A beta for this exchange will launch late December. Expect the WDC market cap to continue rising at a brisk pace as that date approaches.

StableCoin (SBC) - again, transaction speed is vital---and this coin delivers. StableCoin recently sprung back to life, following a deep long slumber. Its creator has reentered the scene full force. All pre-mined coins have been destroyed. An anonymity protecting mixing service has been planned. Chinese market outreach is in full swing. Marketing and branding have been given appropriate focus. Promotions are running. In the space of a week, the creator has done more to connect with the investment community than most coins ever see. And the results speak for themselves.

SBC is now a top 20 market cap coin. Expect top 10 early Q1.

And did I mention that it is still easily profitable to mine?

BEAST WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED (XRP) - English speaking Bitcoin community hates it... Value rises steadily. China adopts it. Bleeding edge cryptocoins emulate it. It solves difficult problems. Google Ventures stands behind it. Business community has eyes on it. XRP is a small part of the total service provided. Buying XRP is akin to buying the tracks that the trains run on.

xrptalk.org :: setup a wallet + trade all currencies :: gateway reviews @ coinist.co :: deposit to buy xrp @ snapswap [now supporting PayPal withdrawls + instant ACH transfer deposits]
CrossCoin Ventures startup accelerator - offering XRP funding up to $50,000 USD equivalent
