Are all of the most generous merit senders of all time in merit stats are merit sources?
If not then, I suggest to make them as merit sources.

What's the point of being a merit source when you can't even bother to merit quality and meritable post?

Think about this question then lock the thread, do you think that the top senders are mining there own merits on the merit testnet or something?

It came from merit faucet. Is that right?

Just kidding, I just want to know who are the merit sources and you said the answer by just asking a question. Nice!

If top merit senders wants to be a merit source then they can apply. It's a choice they need to make. If they do not want to be a merit source then let them be it, they are not getting paid for it by the way.

Somehow theymos doesn't want us to know the name of the merit sources. So it's not easy to give you a list however you can use your experience on the forum to know some of their names.  Cheesy

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

Well given that most merits seem to be awarded on the alt boards, and the alt spammers are the scourge of the forum. There is a good case for removing as sources, those who award excessively to the alts. In fact, I believe that awarding merits on the alt boards should be blocked.

Not sure why are you thinking that... My statement was having TMAN, The Pharmacist, Jet Cash etc in mind (not sure if they are top merit senders but I wish they are). I have seen them giving away a lot of merits for good cause. Of-course they are not mining merits they get these from the merits they earn and even if they are (merit source, I am sure The pharmacist is not by the way) then it's good for the community.

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

I just see you are open minded to receive correction gently way, no body and nothing is perfect and to open my mind that learning will never stop. In case of merit, I see it as way to improve this forum by reducing spam and increasing quality post simultaneously. As I heard from some members, it works even there are some impacts that is not expected such as merit trading, etc. So to improve such merit rewarding, the merit senders should be selected carefully not only by their judging to a post but also their integrity. I don't know whether accepting merit senders need psychological test or not, but at least their responsibility should maintained in the beginning of the appointment as merit senders.

That is good idea as I heard for reducing impact of merit, merit has shown good progress for spam reducing and encouraging member to post in high quality. Now some threads talk about the impact, by more tight selection and encourage the integrity of merit senders then the negative impact of merit system could be pushed out. I am thinking other way to add your idea as perhaps it will not easy to evaluate integrity in this forum by make transparent of merit senders and evaluate them by pooling. The top one for a month to be allowed more smerit and the bottom one to be reduced the smerit numbers. Perhaps this is the fair way for each merit senders and merit receivers in this forum to be evaluated, the result is forum improvement.

You just made a mistake. I too made a mistake that is why I don't judge people because they post shitpost, some did post shitpost because they won't bother creating post that all members would benefit from his/her information provided in his post. Some member abuse other members instead on helping to become one good poster. I think that instead of judging shitposter, higher ranks or those who create good quality post should be the role model just like in school, the role model is the teacher.

the top senders
I'm on that list of most generous merit-givers, but I'm not a merit source.  It just happened that I was legendary when the merit system was started, and I'm also on the top-merited member list as well, AND I've given all of my sMerits away so far--so I ended up with a lot of sMerits from the airdrop in January and from other members, and because I didn't hoard them I could be mistaken for a merit source.  It isn't so.

Therefore, from that list you can't tell who's a merit source with 100% certainty.  I would suspect that most of them are, but who knows.
I have seen them giving away a lot of merits for good cause.
Yeah, I'm trying.
