where is the point that this hardware give you the money you invested back?
do you calculated a timeline who is give you a decent income?

The 6 card rig, that I have set-up up to now, was a total investment of around 5000 USD. That means that i have to mine 166 LTC to get a return of invest.
With a profit of around 2.5 LTC per day i would get a Return of Investment in around 66 days (2 months).

So by beginning of February all my computers are paid back. From there on I am mining into my own pocket. I am keeping the LTC because it will rise to around 1/4 of the BTC price ... I am sure.

But return on investment won't be as static (and high!) as you calculated:
1) you didn't include power costs
2) difficulty is increasing very quickly and it will continue doing so http://litecoinscout.com/static/
3) price fluctuations in LTC/USD might work for/against you.
I don't like these incorrect projections that get loads of new people dragged into mining - only to discover it isn't that easy to make loads of money with it.

Maybe you can further optimize the DOA shares you are getting? 8.5% sounds high to me if you are mining LTC. I had <2% rejected shares when mining on stratum pools such as wemineltc.com or ltcmine.ru. Have you tried different pools closer to you?

Regarding temps: Do you undervolt? Do your cards ever go into throttling? What is your fan speed like? 100%?
Are the right cases in the pic closed and still running at 80C? If so, does the side fan blow air into the case or suck it out of the case? Either can be beneficial, depending on the card etc.

1) Open windows - no heat used.
2) No need to heat in 2-3 months time. You might actually have to pay for A/C then.
3) Gas/Oil is way cheaper than electricity for heating, so there are opportunity costs involved heating with electricity.

Of course you can lie to yourself to make the numbers match. And obviously there are tweaks to be more profitable. But it's not that simple. After all you are competing with many semi-professional miners. Where's your edge?

*g* sounds strangely familiar to me. The cards were actually 357-360£ on Scan's "today only" page which is more like 580-590$ per card. And that was a one-off, probably never to return deal

Somewhat off topic: how do you keep the cards cool? I can run a single card @stock voltage and speed ok, but even then it gets hot. Two cards go into meltdown, so I am currently undervolting and running them only at ~900MHz. I'm thinking about modding the cards soon (thermal paste, removing some shields to get more air to the card etc.). Oh, and total power draw for my setup is definitely <1KW at the wall - I think I measured 750-800W total.

Yep that was the deal.  Didn't actually know it was a deal at the time, I'm a coin mining newbie.  If I had known they were that good I'd have bought ten!

Mine are just sat loose in the mb, small fan blowing at them and the whole lot not mounted in a case, just sat on a rubber block in the garage nice and cool.  Cards still run at 78/79.  Have not been successful with undervolting as I can't seem to get it enabled using afterburner.

If I put the setup in a case with side removed and have it in the main house, card temps can reach 99c, so this is a no go. The fan I have blowing extra air at the setup accounts for 50w, and there is a 10w wireless router on too. So some 1190w measured when both cards running at around 1450kh/s each.

Good news guys:

I have just created a custom OpenCL kernel for scrypt 
I do not want to disclose too much information at this time, but my tweaks actually boost performance by around 30-50%.

My 7970 test card was hashing at around 600 khash/s at stock settings. With my tweaks it is reaching over 1MH/s.
I am setting up a scientific presentation about my modification, and I will present it soon in Berlin.
I will put a video of the presentation online during the next week.

I need some rest ... i put the whole weekend into this.

But why dont u use Asrock h81 pro btc mobo, then you can place 6 cards on each mobo jou can make your own rig from wood ore order one rig.
it will save u energy now u have so many systems ;-)

i use this rig now:

1x Enermax 1500egt
1x Corsair rm1000
6x Sapphire r9 290 tri-x

in total it costs 2055 Watts the cards producing 915 Hashes each. In my rig alt the cards are standing 9,5 centimeters from eachother, and they are 74 degrees each card.

Brb increasing power usage by 100w+ for like what, 100 kh/s? It's a massive waste, that's why nobody does it.
