It looks like I am not the only one who has had money sent to MyBitcoin disappear.  Here are two transactions of mine (51.04 BTC total) which never showed up in my MyBitcoin account:

http://blockexplorer.com/tx/78a8f799ea97a55a875a9b281a096319a9706213ef2e1b2a6efd0e89ee018da3#o0

The first one was a transfer from one of my miners and the second one was a pool payment from slush's pool.  I have been able to successfully send money from my MyBitcoin account (I cleared out my entire balance to a local wallet).

I have sent them an email using the address on their contact page, but I have not received a reply.  I urge everyone using MyBitcoin to check recent transactions and verify that you are not missing anything.  If you are, please report it here.

I just made a thread in Technical Support about this very problem.

http://blockexplorer.com/block/000000000000a391dcde2ed396790ea61dbadf689eadd0834baa183315433691

A transfer from slush's pool to my account. Only 1BTC, but something I'd still like to have!

I reported a lost transaction to them, and even pointed out block/transaction#, but never got a resolution:

Block # 107189: (last transaction in the block)

Does anybody know of an alternative that would let me access from multiple computers? I do not always have access to mining machines because of work/travel/etc. I started a topic before finding this topic to ask this question. http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3598.0

mtgox works fine as simply a place to store bitcoins.

+1 to you. I had always overlooked the ability to "withdraw" in straight BTC from mtgox.com.

The missing 51.04 BTC mysteriously showed up just now in my MyBitcoin account, all in one transaction.  This is roughly 24 hours after the individual transactions were sent.  Strange.

Funds received for me, but no email received for an explanation. Hopefully that's because they were trying to get it working instead of responding to emails.

A challenger appears

You can deposit and withdraw and while your coins are sitting there submit content and maybe withdraw more than you deposited - think of it as a fun way to earn interest .

Put your wallet in an encrypted volume stored on Dropbox or somewhere else you can access over the Internet. Requires a bit more work and requires you to be able to run the client. Might introduce increased risk of loss due to user error, especially if you can't use symlinks.

Small amounts, yes.  However there have been some issues.  There were some break-ins where accounts were compromised.  MtGox made good on the lost funds to some degree to the satisfaction of those that lost a small amount of money.  This is to MtGox's credit since it was not entirely clear whether it was the user's fault, MtGox's or no one's fault in particular.  However, Vladmir had suggested that MtGox make full disclosure of the problem and what steps were taken to secure things.  I don't think this was ever done.  If it was, please say so and I stand corrected.  What would happen if MtGox took a bigger hit and lost more money than they could reimburse?  The owner only makes .065 percent on trades, so it would not take much of a breach to wipe both you and the owner out.  Your funds are not backed by the Federal Reserve like in  a bank.  Also, there are often liquidity issues where it takes time for him to fund his Liberty Reserve account with the US Dollars you send, again leading me to believe his profit margins a are small.  Nothing against MtGox.  I think it is the single most important site for the advancement of the Bitcoin.  I'm just saying if you leave money there, or anywhere, perhaps best just to make use of one of the biggest features of the Bitcoin . .  your own wallet.

I sent 0.15 btc to a mybitcoin account two or three hours ago and it's not turned up yet. Do we know what causes the (I assume) lag?

Is this delay something that might increase even for client as the amount of transactions across the network goes up or is this issue specific to mybitcoin.com?

From  http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/MyBitcoin :
Quote
Amounts sent to an account on MyBitcoin will be confirmed after just one block and will then show in the balance and can be spent immediately.
One block will appear, on average, in about ten minutes.

You might want to verify that Block Explorer shows the transaction first.
