There is a warning on digital goods already: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3035620.0

Everyone should register for an account first before dealing with anyone here, because otherwise you can't see their trust ratings. The sticky makes it clear as well. These self moderated and locked threads are also extremely fishy and most are scams, since they are mainly used for the purpose of avoiding negative attention.

There are tens of fake vouches on his thread as well, that can be easily spotted since all of the people involved are newbies.

Not a surprise how he scammed OP and you considering his trust and history on this forum. However, I do hope that you learn your lesson and not get scammed again in the same manner.

Lazy noob I am trying to get a good bargain. Will catchup on the rules, didnt know there was such a thing as no posting/lock threads..... sorta defeats the purpose of a forum.

Appreciate the help.

OP, sorry for your loss. There is no question that the person in question is the same as YoutubeTV.

Unfortunately, he used a telegram channel just so that he is able to kick out anyone after he scams. Always check trust ratings before dealing. Also, 80% off on gift cards is outrageous. I'd say that anything over 10-20% discount without receipt should be taken with caution, as there are many fraudulent GCs out there (even if you do get them delivered to you).

Lazy noob I am trying to get a good bargain. Will catchup on the rules, didnt know there was such a thing as no posting/lock threads..... sorta defeats the purpose of a forum.

Appreciate the help.

Locking threads can be useful in many scenarios. Self moderated threads are also useful in other scenarios to prevent spam. However, if used in digital goods, it will mean that the person that started the thread is basically trying to directly target and scam those who doesn't have an account on the forum and trying to get a good deal, just like in your case.

You mean this wasn't enough warning  (and it's a few weeks old)?
