If you have 3 x 7970's why does cgminer report 5 gpu's in use...?
http://imageshack.com/i/14te5vj

He has 3 7990s, that's 2 GPU cores each card. Essentially six 7970 cores total.

Also, your card has 4096 stream processors with GDDR5 memory meaning your thread concurrency should be 4096 x 5 (20,480)

Another thing, the Gigabyte HD 7990 minimum requirements call for 750w power supply for each one.

Last, I don't know if cgminer still has this limitation or not, but I know that it used to have problems with using large amounts of video ram. Users with high amounts of video ram who wanted to use their cards at full power were using Reaper, however this information may be outdated as when I look at the hardware comparison charts it seems that everyone else with your card is using cgminer with no issues.

I feel pretty confident that the issue is your system is starving for more power.

Ah, I see, I didn't know cgminer displayed each core as it's own gpu like that.

Does anyone know the cgminer configuration of this set-up?

7990, AX7990 6GBD5-M4DH    1363          N    490    cgminer 3.7.2       500GB HDD, RAMdrive, 80C, i7-4770K, 16GB RAM, 2x7990 @ 2721kH/s

https://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

I have a Devil 13 AX 7990 for CAD work and mining  Grin but can't get it stable above 1100 kH/s

EDIT

Forgot to say that I had some freezing problems and tried to add more RAM with a USB stick on readyboost to see if that would help and it did. Had 2x4gb corsair vengence DDR3 and added 2x4gb usb sticks (for now).

in my case it was def. a PSU problem .. i switched to 2x1050W gold PSU and i did the best i could in splitting the power 50/50 on the two PSUs... now it works great and i hash with this rig at 4,2 MHs, while undervolting to 1060 and temps between 69 and 78 °C

ive been having the same problem with one of my cards im running to psus

1 ax1200i that power mobo cpu 1hdd and 2 7990's the "i" part of the psu allows me to see how much they are drawing well under

i also have a cx750 running 1 7990 thats the one thats been causing me issues with this 511c temp issue has anyone found a fix ive had to unplug that card, im going to redo the thermal pads and paste tomorrow and see if that helps, but if a B1tch as im running these 3 cards watercooled tis a pain breaking the loop to diagnose this card.

are we thinking this is a cgminer issue, as its still running cgminer with the other 2 cards and they run perfectly?

Many Thanks

James

Edited but, just looked at that photo put up its exactly the same card thats failing in my system too number 4, if that helps, ive switched the power for the cards around and tried running the supposed bad card on the big psu no different

well thought id add my progress in trying to solve this, i have now cleaned up the cores and repasted using arctic silver 4, and have replaced all the thermal pads,

its amazing the difference new paste and pads on a clean surface helps its now the coolest card in my water loop even after another card the same has used the water first, my temps have dropped by 10c easy under load.

unfortunatly it hasnt fixed my issue, BUT for stability i was playing around with just using one side of the card or the other to see witch it was, now i can run the one half full speed ahead and its stable but the other side will run for about 5 mins on i20 and upto 3 hours on i12.

one thing i might try is running the one core thats bad on its own in my water loop so it doesnt get hot and see if it is caused by heat, my way of thinking here is if ive damaged the VRM chip on my board it might work fine untill it hits this temp, in witch case i should be able to see about getting that chip replaced.

thoughts anyone does that sound right to you guys?

what i learned was that you should never use intensity 20 on a radeon 7990 ....
im running with these settings at 1400 kHs with one card:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer --scrypt -I 13 -w 256 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 -o.....

if you look at the hardware comp. on the litecoin wiki you see that this is the way to go on these cards Smiley
maybe thats helps your problem...

If you reduce the core frequency, it might help.

my current settings

color 03

bfgminer --scrypt --temp-cutoff 98 --url=stratum+tcp://litecoinpool.org:3333 --userpass= --url=stratum+tcp://us.litecoinpool.org:3333 --userpass= --failover-only --thread-concurrency=24000 --intensity=20

ive not dropped the freq of the card but am running at 1160mv stable for heat i cant keep my loop cool enough without undervolting and if your looking at my setup and seeing bfgminer ive also tried cgminer 3.1.0 and 3.3.0 but cgminer wont read temps at all and bfgminer shows me temps but they dont match the cards as in they are the right temps but in the wrong order

Hello all

Thanks all of you guys for resoluting this problem. I have a same issue with AX7990 (I have only 1). My system (Dell Precision T7500): 1100W 80+silver PSU, Intel Xeon 5520 2.33GHz, 12GB 1066 RAM, 500GB HDD 7200rpm. I've tried a lot of things, including things that you dealt with in this topic. I do not know what to do, you have any idea how to setup cgminer config for this card? In full load, card temperatures are 66C, in idle 36C. PC Photo: http://oi42.tinypic.com/1r6jvl.jpg , official utility from Powercolor (default) - http://oi42.tinypic.com/21lsnsp.jpg

Thanks Smiley
