Mining is the scam;
Hey lets make a currency to avoid the evil banks and distribute it fairly (oh but you must have many thousands $$$$ in computer gear to mine and the more you have the more you get hmmmmmm).

wow, incredible there are also many zero-premined coins there, such as ZEU. I'd not mine heavily premined ones, which simply give donations to the dev. you mean - zeus coin? any exchange?

didnt orbitcoin cut the "premine" - which is now given out as bonus blocks when you mine?
And all the instamined/üremined coins... are not currency... just something for the rich to play with.
The advantage of the mining is that you dont absolutely need large sums of money to get soem share of the coin.
The oens who support those coins simply owh large amount of shares and try to push it up to make profit. nothing else.

5% doesn't sound too bad really (regarding ADT).
You make the coin, and try and get some money. Let's not kid ourselves that many of these coins function to do anything else (a few noble exceptions, of course)
ORB was about 66%, or so I am led to believe.
PXC was hugely premined, too. Again, I am led to believe about 30%.
Then there were the FTC accusations, never verified whether true or not.

5% premine does not sound too bad? and people bash to death a coin that premined 0.4%?? What are your reasons there? 5% is WAY TOO MUCH. In ADT case, it is 3.6 Billions, which is absurd. Very very greedy the ADT dev, of course it is dwarfed by GLB's 20%. I'd say max 1% premine is considered as reasonable.

5% not sound too bad? now this really becomes insane, and even 20%??? I wish the community will accept this, lmao . When I created Infinitecoin, I don't even dare to premine 0.01%, for fearing the rejects from the community. Now greedy prevails, people premined 5%, even 20%, this possibly signal the end of the alt coin era? oh well.

Very very greedy the ADT dev, of course it is dwarfed by GLB's 20%. I'd say max 1% premine is considered as reasonable. quoting 3.6 billion is not really helpful. The premine, it is claimed, was 5%. Is that a lot? Maybe it is, but given there are currently 93 coins on Cryptsy alone, the majority of which are utterly useless, I won't get too bothered about a 5% premine. I have no plans to use cryptocurrencies for anything other than to amass more dollars. And to monocolor: IFC is not respected by anyone with a brain. It was the ultimate pump and dump coin, lost people a lot of money, made a lot of people a lot of money, and it has no use value whatsoever. I hope I am not alone in finding the moral tone some people apply to this marketplace quite ridiculous. Invent a coin if you want, make it "unpumpable" (it is possible), and then come back for a big pat on the back.

It's no problem to release whatever coins you want, but intentional hide, cheat, and mislead people on the facts of the coins are bad. Premine whatever you want, say it straight, and let people decide what to mine.
trying to hide huge premines, and fool people, will be backfired once revealed. Premine 5% and say 2%, I am not surprised by it, as ADT is released by a dishonest guy.

I don't believe that there should be ANY pre-mine on a new altcoin, except to pay for software development, marketing, promotions, etc. If any premining is done, it must be used to help expand the market for that coin. People who get involved in the first few months, before a new coin has had the chance to be tested on the market need to have a fair and realistic chance of getting some value for the coin.
If a new altcoin is experimental, or is meant to test out some new features, let buyers know ahead of time. Tell the truth.

I would like to work on development of a polymorphic altcoin that maintains a stable value and is more resistant to fraud. btc: 15diNSNVontYf5iUvQqnLSQJ9rCAHuwpyJ betyourbits.com LTC: LRqVTEPcS7uusMy7JDqYEUg6KqdhfRWC5B DogECoin: DDHG719WNCCav5MWQQqyxLABFhZTG3jwX3 QRK: QdKnP5SqoG9r4CNuFcY1oesaYUAsu1W5hF
