It's been a while since Wave Crest and Visa issues have happend and at that moment all debit card providers promised to find a new solution soon. Time has passed but I don't see Bitcoin debit cards appearing on the horizont.
Currently the choice is very poor and service very bad and expensive.
Does anyone has some information, are there some cards in preparation stage, like those from Xapo or similar?

I know that WireX has found a new partnership and they started to roll out their Debit Card to UK based customer and more country will have their turn someday.
I never heard any news from Advcash, Spectrocoin, CryptoPay, but I know for sure that they are trying to get their hands on new Partnership.
Their Business Model relies on Bitcoin Debit Card and without it they are as good as dead.

There are new Bitcoin Debit Card called Paycent although their Card price are pretty much similar to Wagecan, expensive.
Unless you are desperate for new card, I'd be better to wait for Wirex as they are the most promising one right now.

Currently I'm using Mistertango because I don't have any other choice but I'm not satisfied how it's functioning. I realy mis my Xapo debit card and hope they will be back in the game soon.
It's hard to beleive there is not more interest in such potential like Bitcoin debit cards. Currently there is a big hole in the market waiting for some quality providers to fill it.

Not exactly an answer to your question, but I read a while back that Revolut is introducing a credit card that provides cash-back benefits in cryptocurrencies.

I imagine it's more a gimmick and they'll use alt-coins just so they can ride the crypto wave. But maybe a crypto debit card is next on the block?

I'm also starving for a bitcoin card for a long time and its been a while there is no strong news from providers.
Wirex, Cryptopay, Bonpay are just giving hope for future, saying they are working with a new company and will launch the card service soon.

I have a list of works which are pending just due to the lack of a bitcoin card.  Angry

So far, I think your only choice is Wirex after Visa Europe ended its cooperation with Wavecrest.
I have not used their service before, but they are the only company that has declared such a trend
In fact, with the high fees offered by these services and high bitcoin transactions(Beginning this year), I have stopped using these cards, but through my experience, I recommend Cryptopay & spectrocoin.

I'm actually on the same boat as you, I got projects that requires me to use Bitcoin Debit Card, But instead of waiting I'm trying to find alternate solutions.
Most of my projects requires me to buy items that are only available on Amazon/Online Store, before Wave Crest incident I could just simply load my bitcoin to my card and pay.
Now what I do is first to find alternate online store that accepts Bitcoin as their payment, if I can't find it I will just simply trade my BTCs to Amazon Gift Cards Tongue
Less convenient, but it works and my projects are not canceled because of that.

I don't know what kind works are you doing, but try to find alternatives solution to your works first, I predict Bitcoin Debit Card will be available worldwide in the end of the year, unless you area willing to wait for that you ought to find an alternatives Wink

Even if it's a gimmick, a new alternatives for Crypto Cards are always welcome.
In fact I think Revolut are the first Crypto Card with Cash Back Benefits if that is true.

I looked for alternatives already, but I failed, because either it was difficult or much expensive.
As far I know, Amazon cards can be bought at a lower price than the face value. So, in that case, your job can be profitable if I assumed correctly.

If I use localbitcoins to load my Payoneer then you already know the case - its something similar to cut our throats intentionally. Besides that, Payoneer is also not accepted by all, even google doesn't accept it.

Go check this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DRbTeMCzb4UeXI0YlAzBxMc2u2i0cN_17Ql6eMngK6E/edit#gid=0. It has a good overview of the status of these debit card services but please note that these are not live updates so if you really want the "latest" news, you have to individually check their site.

I was also really looking forward to trying Mistertango, but then all the issues came out from users here, so stayed my decision for the time being. I actually don't have a dire need for a Bitcoin debit card - I sell enough of what I need on LBC to fund my international debit card and that's what works best, funded in about an hour if I use LBC. And keep a little to use on Revolut for other necessary payments. Even have quick access to a couple of other exchanges with no issues... but I would really like to have an extra option of an "always available" bitcoin card. I doubt we'll find something soon, I think there IS an interest, simply not the way past it at the moment.

Call me stupid though, but I wonder if convincing merchants to accept Bitcoin directly, and atop LN, will make the need for debit cards redundant in the next 5-10 years.

I've basically given up on debit cards and I've gone to buying the aforementioned eBay and Amazon gift cards at a discount for purchases. There are also services on this forum that claim to allow you to buy products off Amazon and eBay for the website price 1:1. One I've found for eBay is on Bitify from a relatively reputable user (Bitify offers escrow regardless), and Bitwants, who migrated from Shopawl.com to their new domain. I had no problems with Shopawl for ~$150 in AliExpress transactions in the past, and I expect they're essentially the same now. They now do Amazon, and eBay in addition to AliExpress nowadays, not a bad option.

I also agree that covincing merchants to accept BTC with Lightning coming officially soon and lowering fees is a good solution in the long term. Doesn't take a lot of time to even suggest accepting BTC, but it goes a long way.

Considering that there are not many updates coming out from these providers to begin with, this is a neatly maintained list Smiley
From this list alone I can see that there are not many providers has their cards working, most are still trying to strike a partnership Roll Eyes
Also if you're in Asia there are very little options you can choose, the only one that works truely worldwide are Paycent and their cards costs similar to Wagecan.

Call me stupid though, but I wonder if convincing merchants to accept Bitcoin directly, and atop LN, will make the need for debit cards redundant in the next 5-10 years.
Until the merchants are willing to accept Bitcoin directly, a medium of exchange are always needed whether it's a Debit Card or payment processor, etc.
But I guess LN can convince merchants due to their high speed as similar as using traditional payment processor Smiley

Yeah. One reason merchants don't want to use Bitcoin is the need for confirmation times... even 1 confirmation takes an average of 10 minutes, never mind when the network is busy, but LN solves that with near-instant settlement.

But I was thinking of LN at addressing merchants' biggest issue with Bitcoin, which is volatility, as they say. But the problem really is that their business model is still fiat based. But if there were a larger network that connected merchants with suppliers who also settled in Bitcoin, then that becomes less of an issue.

Having LN settle quicker also allows for fast(er) conversions of crypto to fiat, so even if merchants still insist on a fiat model, they could warm up to Bitcoin again soon. Fact is, even Visa and MC needs time to settle their merchant payments.

I know that WireX has found a new partnership and they started to roll out their Debit Card to UK based customer and more country will have their turn someday.

Have you ever tried Wirex in the past and where have you seen this information regarding where they are currently available? I saw in their blog article that they state "As it says in the title, we launched our new Currency Accounts and Virtual Cards across all European countries."

Also I am a bit skeptic when I see that there seem to be no spending and loading limits, plus I have some doubts because I remember I was reading that they don't provide the best service but I don't know if that has changed with time.

As far as I know advcash is not available atm, even this article doesn't list it.

Yes, I also think that Advcash is not available anymore. At least not in Europe.

Seems that Bitcoin debit card market will stay poor for a longer period of time because all former providers are promising the new solutions and partners but I doubt that they are actualy making any progress. Maybe there is also some other reason for that, like further Bitcoin regulation?

No doubt which further bitcoin regulation would really be the main reason why we do experience hardship when it comes to seeking out to use up these bitcoin debit cards it turns out that their partners would really need to comply when theres such regulation or such changes. Hope they would find any solutions to seek out another partnership which wont really make any problems because ive been missing out on using these bitcoin debit cards.
