http://o.canada.com/entertainment/music/former-spice-girl-mel-b-to-make-history-as-first-musical-artist-accepting-bitcoin/

She beat Snoop Dogg to the punch!  She's already got the bitcoin logo on her website for her new album.

EDIT: the link to CloudHashing as the payment processor casts suspicion to the credibility of this story.
EDIT 2: confirmed via Mel B's tweet (https://twitter.com/OfficialMelB/status/410172957181632513).  Still no explanation on how CloudHashing is accepting payments on her behalf.

Are they right about cloudhashing.com? From what I can see they just sell mining rigs, weird.

Yeah, that part didn't make any sense to me either.  But even her website has the Cloud Hashing reference. The CloudHashing website just shows....well...cloud hashing.  Nothing about BitPay-like payment services.  Hmm.....

I say Mel B just got her website hacked CosbyCoin style and some journalist fell for it. Tweets or it didn't happen.

Troll or not, the Snoop Dogg story was for real. It would be typical of him, as in a world of soap opera spats, Snoop is a genuine rebel.

It should be so attractive to musical artists of all stratas, they all get heavily ripped off by the agents of the infrastructure that gets their work distributed. Being able to set up your own money acceptance capability closes the loop for the musical artists, they can now do everything for themselves (which has gradually evolved through the years all with the help of digital technology; first recording and production equipment, then the distribution with CD's and mp3's, taking the money is the last step)

30 years ago, music artists were totally dependent on the music industry. They can now achieve total independence from it.

Agreed, BitPay should be calling BandCamp relentlessly. It would be a really good fit.

For some reason I thought that she was accepting bitcoins as a performance fee payment!  Quite interesting!

I have my doubts Mel B has the slightest idea what a bitcoin is.

Snoop Lion on the other hand - yeah baby!

Bump.

Just wanted to point out that you can now actually buy her new single with bitcoin and then instantly download it (http://www.melaniebrown.com/music/).  I'm not really into this type of music, but (since it was only $0.99) I went a head a bought it  Cheesy   It's sitting next to my DOGE coin collection   Grin

Weird I remember cloudhashing being inefficient guess they leveled up
Also AGT will never BTC The Same
Sorry I had to use that joke

Well relooked and yep better off getting some second hand rigs
Mel B breaking peoples banks XD
So that's where they got the money for this ha-ha

Profit of 50Gh/s is about 0.88 BTC. 50Gh/s contract - $3,999.
1 BTC = 4544USD. Great deal! Grin
Profit of 100Gh/s is about 1.75 BTC. 100 Gh/s contract - $3,999. (In 1 Month)
1 BTC = 2285.14USD. Great deal! Grin

http://mining-profit.com/

3999 Dollars at an Exchange Rate of 750 gets about 5.25 BTC

Hmmmm assume difficulty increase of 0 beats 5.25 slightly lol

Love to known how many bitcoins Mel B collects ... but I guess it would need people to buy the album for that to happen Wink

Snoop Dogg would be more interesting - he actually sells.
