The Bible
LOL why not ? It is one of the best novels ever written, and a best seller of course  Grin

Did you actually read it? I've stopped after 50 pages. It's unbelievably boring. Like reading a phone directory.

How useful is the block chain in Datacoin to store data?

What kinds of files can it store? How large of files can you upload?

Is it easy to upload/download them from the block chain, or does it take many steps?

I'm somewhat interested in this concept.

1. Blockchain is expensive and reliable storage. It costs 50 DTC per 1MB , or 0.05 DTC per 1KB.

2. It can store any file, you need to bzip data before sending to blockchain. You can do it manually, or with special services (see below)

3. Now you can go to https://krypte.net , register here, send some coins and upload files. If you want to do that via wallet (Linux version), you should look into instructions http://datacoin.info/index.php?id=technical-details
This feature will be implemented into wallet GUI soon.

Just a question that probably is in the documentation, are the coins destroyed or go to miners in next blocks??

we can choose multiple books, and then include their TX IDs into all Datacoin promotions, just like proof-of-concept.

Why not load up a list of the founders names and a bio to go with it, in this way as the coin moves in a direction away from them or givin time they are givin due credit for their work.

Going off of the Fahrenheit 451 idea, if you just wanted to use quotes instead of the whole book I put this one up for vote:

"Peace, Montag.  Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year.  Cram them full of noncombustible data, chock them so full of 'facts' they feel stuffed, but absolutely 'brilliant' with information.  Then they'll feel they're thinking, they'll get a sense of motion without moving.  And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change.  Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with.  That way lies melancholy.  Any man who can take a TV wall apart and put it back together again, and most men can, nowadays, is happier than any man who tries to slide-rule, measure, and equate the universe, which just won't be measured or equated without making man feel bestial and lonely.  I know, I've tried it.  So bring on your clubs and parties, your acrobats and magicians, your daredevils, jet cars, motorcycle helicopters, your sex and heroin, more of everything to do with automatic reflex.  If the drama is bad, if the film says nothing; if the play is hollow, sting me with the theremin, loudly.  I'll think I'm responding to the play, when it's only a tactile reaction to vibration.  But I don't care.  I just like solid entertainment."

We should not include copyrighted books. That's a bad idea for a start.

p.s.

Don't forget to vote for Datacoin:

Bidji, you gave excellent idea. It will be very helpful and symbolic to get such document into blockchain and announce info about it via different news portals.

I agree. I think free (copyright expired) ebooks should be stored early on. I would donate 10 DTC to the unofficial team if someone took it up.

Candidates (bzip compressed 50-200 KB / book):

Moby Dick: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2701

Beowulf: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/16328

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/11

Les Misérables: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/135

Are these books non-copyrighted ?

Are these books non-copyrighted ?

Copyright expires 70 years after the death of the author. So you can read/use/publish the 4 books I've suggested for free.

Maybe because of my origin country i would like to see Homer's Odyssey

Now this is a good list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_books_banned_by_governments if we want to be a little aggressive Tongue

Btw seriously personally i wouldnt like to see Bible there as one of the first books. Maybe i would prefer the On the Origin of Species before any religious text...

If i would have only 1 choice i think i would choose Newton's Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica ...
