Giving away BTC for Christmas

I'm planning to give out small amounts of BTC, $20 worth, as Christmas presents to my family and friends.  It should be a fun way to raise awareness and talk about BTC.

Any pointers on the easiest way to that?  I was thinking about a simple paper wallet and handing it to them.  But whats the easiest way I can tell them to redeem their bitcoin?

Don't. Make the paper wallets secure and tell them the best thing is probably just forgetting they exist.

Otherwise the best bet is a "light" wallet that doesn't require the entire blockchain to be downloaded, then it's just importing a private key. Pretty easy with bitcoin-qt, after downloading, what, 7-13gb? Been a while since I checked.

Casascius coins are much better as a gift to family and friends, but more expensive than $20, unfortunatelly

I think a paper wallet with some mBTC is a very nice gift for Christmas and make people interested to bitcoins:-)

The easiest to redeem private key is blockchain.info (and spend) or Exchange (and sell)

Oh what a great idea! If everyone did that it would really raise awareness and get more people in.

An online gifting/wallet service with some bitcoin newbie FAQs on it to make it all easy would be cool.

How many older relatives do you have?  Do you think they really want this gift?  Is this really for your family or do you just want to talk about BTC with them?  I'd suggest maybe giving it to friends, for fun, but not sure about more distant relatives.  I know you didn't ask, so I'm sorry for sticking my nose in your business

Get some nice flash drives that you can get personalized paper... well you might as well just give them a 20 without a card

I think these look quite nice if printed on some heavyish paper. A lot like gift vouchers.
