I'm sure we all know the story by now:

Quote
Unfortunately we do not accept bitcoin, however, we are aware of bitcoin and we will continue to monitor it with interest.

I'm genuinely curious, however, how much they might be missing out on by not taking Bitcoin donations in addition to PayPal, credit card, check, and other donation methods.

The minimum donation amount (provided you don't plug a smaller number into the "other" field,) is only 3 USD, while there is theoretically no limit to how much one can give them. My question to you, friends and enemies alike, is just how much you are willing to part with to help Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation, were they accepting Bitcoin, either in local currency units or BTC.

ETA: Yes, I am aware of the option through Bitpay. This is valid as well, and amounts given/to be given through this are requested as well.

Who cares?

If my business model depended on charity I wouldn't have any restrictions on what was donated as long as it was convertible.

If they are too stupid to accept Bitcoin to help fund their organization then too bad for them.

With approx $10 billion worldwide cryptocurrency market wikipedia is no longer important to Bitcoin or any of the alt coins.

We don't need them anymore.

I think that the results would be inaccurate.
Lot's of people will claim they are willing to donate more that they actually think just to either show off or thinking that the results would make an influence on wiki decisions Smiley

none, they have shown their true colors towards Bitcoin. Plus I won't donate anything until the reign of deletionists are over at wikipedia.

I guess this would help if people wanted to give really small amounts?

Wouldn't they then need to manage wallets carefully?

If you wanted to give $5+ you'd just convert to USD and ship it their way. Agree with the deletionists thing too. I'd go on there and spend some time writing an article that was actually correct on a topic that had a very minimal and wrong entry only to find it got reverted by someone who didn't know the first thing about it.
