Blockchain Is ‘World-Changing’, Says U.S. Congressman During Supply Chain Hearing

https://cointelegraph.com/news/blockchain-is-world-changing-says-us-congressman-during-supply-chain-hearing

Two United States House Subcommittees held a hearing today, May 8, on how blockchain tech can be used in supply chain management. The hearing concluded that the technology has a wide variety of applications, despite its current lack of industry-wide standards.

The Subcommittee on Oversight and the Subcommittee on Research and Technology discussed blockchain applications with four witnesses from both the public and private sector today. Republican Congressman Barry Loudermilk noted his happiness that the topic of blockchain was finally coming up for discussion at a government level. He stated that after 20 years in IT, he  “felt a little like a voice in the wilderness on blockchain,”

Another good news?

Does that mean they will give Ethereum and ICOs safe harbor in America hehehe.

I reckon they have no choice but to accept decentralized blockchain based cryptocoin ICO projects and platforms, because if they categorize them as illegal securites then they will have a bigger problem in trying to enforce the law. It will also show that they have no control over their financial system.

They would not want that.

Another good news?

I consider this thing as a good news and i do rather accept that government would able to recognized and decide to adopt it rather than on total ban but same as bbc said above they cant still able to control or completely stop it even they would do such thing but i doubt they do only consider blockchain tech not on accepting existing coins in the market.Dont see a reason for such thing.

@Hamphser. The SEC is open to more discussions about blockchain technology and the cryptospace in general, and some of their congressmen were also open to discussing on how to create loose laws around it instead of a strict regulatory sand box.

Yes good news. Very unlike of what occured in China.

It is due time that they recognize it as something that would be world-changing rather than preventing the technology to bring more efficiency to the world. There are so many uses of blockchain technology but in terms of cryptocurrencies, they just have some problems with it due to its effect in the financial system. The technology creates a solution to lessen the cost and be more efficient which would then create an opportunity for more jobs as more businesses would emerged. Instead of stopping blockchain which is near to impossibility and it would make them weak if they ban it, it would be better to just implement some laws so that in some ways they can still have control.

Indeed that's good news. The problem that we have now is for them to accept the use of cryotocurrencies. Right now the news we are hearing is proving that everybody wants to adopt blockchain technology. I even heard a rumour about Facebook also adopting blockchain (I don't know how true it is though!).
But when they're going to reconsider their stands pertaining to cryptocurrencies is the problem now. Anyways I still hope many good news are on the way. Crypto and blockchain has indeed come to stay

I won't be surprised if someone made that speech or comment for him. Let us remember the senate hearing of Mark Zuckerberg have which more than half of the senators have know fucking clue on what Mark is answering to them, some of them don't even know what kind of questions they want to ask to him. Lately Blockchain and Bitcoin is becoming popular and these politicians will take advantage of this to make them look good that they are striving for better technology and is supporting what is "in" today.

This is a welcome development by the congress men at least they had emphasized the benefits of blockchain technology in chain supply thus bringing this technology into limelight with this development a lot of countries will follow suit and  deploy the technology into their own system, these are some of the benefits that are obtainable or can be derived if this technology is fully utilized.

For now, facebook is still banning all cryptocurrency ads. Therefore, I do not think they will try to adopt the blockchain. The media is against cryptocurrency, thus facebook too. Added to that statement, I reckon this as a good news because the more people support blockchain, the better its reputation spreads out. And yes, hopefully there will be upcoming good news because many people are still believing in it and support it.

Here comes a positive attitude towards the growing technology, I believe when you start adopting blockchain into various business there is vast probability that people will also start using its applications like Bitcoin. There are number options present where we can utilize the technology of blockchain, hence it seems one of the most promising tech in the coming days.

Even if many companies have banned promoting crypto, blockchain products will definitely be an eye opener for them.
