I'm not a pro or anything, but I just got mine working.  I have 2 questions for you.  What is your mining software, and what issue are you having?  I'll help if I can...

You might want to elaborate.  Which coin? The easiest way is to type setgenerate true-1 into your wallet, assuming it doesn't have a start mining button.
There are lots of "mining for noobs" guides out there.  I am essentially useless on computers, but have found all the information I need on this forum.
