I recently found the wonderful world of crypto-currencies and have my first miner running now.  I'm hoping to get some information about alt-coins from here, so that I can decide which currency should I focus into.

This seems to be the central discussion area for all things related to cryptocurrencies. The board format is a little old-school but while it continues to serve as the main repository of related information, I'll continue to visit. I've lurked here for a couple months now and haven't felt the need to post until recently, so my account is fairly new. I originally came across the site while researching bitcoins, mining hardware, mining software and altcoins. I found that this site kept continually showing up as the top search result for topic after topic related to those things; so here I am.

I learned about dogecoin, starting mining it - started trading it - learned about other cryptocurrencies - devoting life to it Tongue

Wanted to learn more about bitcoin and emerging cryptocurrencies. Joining bitcointalk would be awesome, being able to interact and ask questions about every bitcoin topic.

@Anhben it's probably the same thing a couple years from now that you'd wish to hold on to some however you need to have faith.

I came because this seems to be the most concentrated source of information for all thins bitcoin or alternative crypto coin related. Of the several forums I frequent this one seems to be the most informative and helpful. Except for the incredibly annoying, though I suppose necessary, anti-trolling measures that restrict new users from posting outside this forum. Which is the main reason this post is so long.... Let's make it a little longer to be sure..... Happy Holidays everyone.

Hi Guys,

I have joined bitcointalk because I have taken a sudden interest in cryptocoins.

I spend a lot of time playing online games (LoL & WoW mostly) and a fair amount of time playing offline games too;  but this past day or two I've been drawn away from my games and have been reading up on cryptocoins. They have certainly grabbed my attention and got my interest.

Sadly I've completely missed the boat with bitcoin... my 5+ year old graphics card can't mine for peanuts and I would have to spend thousands on hardware just to mine $1 / day worth;  so I'm hoping to try my luck at other cryptocoins.

Some of the cryptocoin communities seem quite fun; so I hope to join in on the festivities.

I don't intend to become a big player (I simply don't have the money to buy the hardware needed), but hope to build a small portfolio of various coins so that I can join in with the tipping and fun on the communities, and can also treat it somewhat like a stockmarket game.

If anyone has any suggestions to a newcomer, they will be much appreciated. But for now, I will continue to read the wealth of information posted throughout this forum.

Thank you
R0th

Rcently put a rig togheter for GPU mining.
Was all too sceptical about the whole Bitcoin thing and let it pass by me. Look what that got me? Smiley

With the news about Litecoin and Doge, I've finally decided to try it out myself and after reading so much about this forum, I too decided to register here.
Keep watch of new coins and the latest news. This seems the place to be.

Just wondering

I came because doge.scryptpools.com won't let me withdraw my coins.  I can't post in his support thread because I'm still a newbie, which is great.

Well, I guess bitcoin is out of lots people's range, so alt coins are better choice.
