Ripple has huge community. It just cannot be dead like that. It is one of the coins which people believe (definitely not me) will moon because of its usefulness and purpose in the banking industry. So I guess, until there are so many believers, XRP will live just like bitcoin.

I doubt the truth of this news, if this news is true then R3 have a big chance to win the dispute and very unfortunate if 5% of max supply XRP will fall to R3 moreover 5 billion XRP will be purchased cheaply

Ripple is still surviving because of its users. Though it is not like bitcoin but maybe its users are somehow benefited by it. So I think it will survive until its users believe in it.

Just one problem with that... The banks don't want to use Ripple, and I really doubt many will in the future.
They're saying themselves that they might get 3 contracts from money transfer firms in 2018, but I think that's just peanuts.

Banks will want to go with their own blockchain solutions, that's just what I think will happen.

What is true is that they've gotten a lot of investments from investment firms, so it's almost as if they're too big to fail.

If R3 get 5 billion in ripple then they could tank the ripple market easily with a mass sell off. Anyone still holding should dump it quickly before the decision is made, if it goes south then you know that it will be too late as the big players will be ready to dump at a moments notice

That's very true of the high street banks, they move at a pace that makes a glacier look like the road runner

But don't forget there are many hundreds of small fintech start ups that are already taking risks on customers that the banks aren't willing to touch. However though despite this much of what the startups provide still actually relies entirely on the (slow and expensive) international banking network. If an 'off grid' network was built around XRP (or any other cryptocurrency that promises low fees and fast transactions) that bypasses much of the big bank infrastructure then I'm highly confident the fintech startups would use it.

Let them keep believing in their moon, and I hope that one day they get to see that moon. Yes, some noobs may believe that they can get to see ripple give them some pretty good move to the moon in the later run but I really hope their hope will not end up getting dashed in the long run.

All the above, ripple to me does not look like a coin that is going to be surviving that much in the market and the only thing that is keeping it going now is just basically because it is centralized and when the devs are done with everyone, they could likely just dump on them pretty hard.

Why would they enter in the agreement and then later backed out anyways, they have seen the folly of their deal but if there is any documentation, is the agreement even binding in the first place.

Ripple is not a decentralized coin. Regardless to the truth-value of the news, we cannot predict the real situation with xrp market, since the prices might as well be manipulated and regulated. And besides, could one court case really make much of a difference? There were various court cases in and outside of the US related to bitcoin. Some turned out for btc, others against it, but the prices didn't change much. Probably because most of people don't follow such things as court news.

The news linked by OP seems like a legitimate one because I found another reliable source from cointelegraph stating the same news. If ripple loses it's appeal in New York, they would be dead for sure because they must cease operation in accordance to the lawsuit. I wonder though, will ripple become a decentralized coins if that happens? Or will it stay to be the same old centralized coin it used to be continuing it's operation?

That's just the FUD to fool the mentality of the traders. Because the ripple is a very prestigious and influential altcoin for the Crypto market. It has a great collaboration with 6 big banks in the world. So the ripple can never be deceptive or illegal.
I always trust Ripple because all the positions in the corporation work very well and closely. By 2020, the price of the ripple will be $ 3.5 per coin.

They might be freeze for a while but if the dev's team still have a guts to continue their project, I'm sure its a big deal for this coin, the news will bring more downfall and investors who already have their coins will maybe dumped their share as well avoiding to have a big losses and start investing again with some other coins that will give them a chance to recover their loses, we need to have a good judgement if we wanted to survive with such news like this.

It is not even about what we think, fake or not, ripple is a coin that sucks and it is something that is highly possible for them to achieve. Firstly, it is centralized and the devs are holding most part of it, and who on earth really want to be holding such.

Secondly, even though it is classified as the banker’s coin, I really do not see its importance when the banks are really not seeing it as something they would even want to make use of. As far as I am concerned, Ripple is a scam and it is just about time before we started seeing it being pushed to where it actually belongs.
