Hi guys,

I registered to ask you a question. I'm mining with cgminer 3.7.2 on 2 7950 (Win7) with these parameters :

cgminer.exe  --thread-concurrency 24000 --lookup-gap 0 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1250 --gpu-powertune 20 -w 256 -I 18 -g 1 --scrypt -o stratum+x -u x -p x

It works fine when I just boot my comp.
If ever I want to change a setting and restart cgminer, it does crash my display driver. This sometimes let me Windows opened with only 1 GPU mining, and sometimes crashes my whole comp. When I reboot, I am able to run cgminer again.
I am running AMD Drivers 13.9. I tried to downgrade to 12.8 but cgminer doesn't even care to start.
I tried removing the gpu-engine parameter, but same issue.

I got another rig (different motherboard, different RAM, different CPU) of 2 7950 running on Win8.1 with exactly the same issue.

I run a google query but it only points me to guys with a cgminer not running at all. I'm running it, but only once. Just a computer restart is a workaround.

This really make me sad cause I want to use Multiminer/CGWatcher to mine multiple coins, which implies a cgminer restart.

Can you point me to a solution ?

Thanks in advance.

You first need to get the miner stable, then you can try tweaking config settings. Run

cgminer.exe --scrypt --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1250 --gpu-powertune 20 -I 13

Don't forget pools. Obviously I'd recommend using CGWatcher to make all of this easier.

If that is able to handle changes and restarts, then you can try adding another argument. I've never seen lookup-gap set to 0. Try it set to 2 (or leave out altogether).

I think your config is what is causing you problems. Regardless, I'm making changes in the next CGWatcher update that should really improve stability between restarts and profile switching.

Thank you for your reply. I managed to know why it's crashing. When I use the comp normally with mining (opening brower, game, etc...), it crashes on restart. If I leave the comp untouched, it can restart without crashing. I'll try with your settings.
