First of all I didn’t expect this kind of comment from a wise man like Warren Buffett. I think he don’t know about the past records of bitcoin for this reason he can’t see its future. Bitcoin is a digital currency and in coming future it will rule the world market.

Bitcoin surley entered the stage where it acts like a bubble. And it comes as no surprise that people with huge sums of money say things like this one. First of all Buffet is wise enough and this is how he build what he has built. First things first guy goes for sure things and he likes to risk but not that much as with bitcoin for instance. He invested in bussninees his whole life and he is good at it, all humans can be wrong. But he surley is right on one thing that this could go downhill and some poeple can panic sell and lose.

Why would btc be " rat poison in the box" ? Btc proved its worth from time to time. It now ranks 1st among all cryptocurrency out there.

He's got a vested interest in keeping fiat the dominator in currency, of course he's going to spread as much FUD about crypto as possible using whatever influences he has at his disposal.

I think that it is not important what he has to say about crypto. He has been against Bitcoin from the get go and one of the big reasons for him to dislike it is that it is new technology and new market that he doesn't know how to control.

Warren Buffett: Bitcoin is "rat poison in the box" What do you think?

I have read the news but for creating a thread assuming that every members of the forum have read the same NEWS, I think this is a lousy post. @OP next time when you create a thread, try to be as informative as you can so all readers could find the thread a source for such topic.

He has an unquestionable record but he is getting old and he knows that Blockchain is putting his portfolio in question. He has to invest such large amounts of money, that of course Berkshire is also heavily invested in the banking and financial sector. He is scared and I do understand it. He knows what is up and that blockchain is disruptive but he is just not in a super flexible position. If you have to invest that much money you can not be super flexible at the same time.

He has rights to say his opinion it doesn’t matter on those people believing what the cryptocurrency do to our financial system. He’s may be jealous because he didn’t anticipate the earlier success of crypto. We cannot blame him because he’s a businessman all he wants to do is earn and this time around he was absent and some are successful.

This kind of statement is made just to spread FUD among people. This are totally baseless and will suggest all to not to pay heed to all this non-sense.

Warren Buffett is very clever investor. I think that the similar statement he can provoke falling of a rate of bitcoin that it is more favorable to buy it.

I would say that he’s entitled to his own opinion and that I personally disagree. I think bitcoin, crypto currency and Blockchain all have a bright future. There are bad apples and scammers in the space but that is no different than any other financial space. Buffet has been consistently anti-bitcoin and it’s understandable since it is an unstable, risky investment and that’s not where he’s at right now.

I think he didn't understand the worth of bitcoin yet. I bet, after few years he'll change his persception. Bitcoin price has increased its price than before and the growth and advancement of it is also increasing. So, i this one day will come that Warren himself will pay through bitcoin. Smiley

I am really shocked at the comment done by Warren Buffett. I know him a very well speculative person. But this time i found irrelevant. People are being more interested day by day. And this time this tyoe of comment make negative effect in market.

Buffett invests in old school companies like Washinton Post, he missed the last big wave, cloud and has zero holdings in Salesforce, Amazon or Netflix to name just a few. What makes him competetent to talk about the latest and probably most innovate and transformative tech since the internet? Besides he disinherited one of his family members only because the girl was more interested in art than in business. Buffett is rather a box of poison himself.
