David Marcus is a well known techie who served as CEO of Paypal and Vice President of Messaging at Facebook, has now moved to a different role to explore blockchain technology to be used within Facebook ecosystem.

Few of his achievements:
1. Facebook messenger has become a standalone app on the first month of his job.
2. Facebook messenger is now processing 17 billion + messages every month.
3. He is also a board member of CoinBase.
4. Two international patents.

While the end goal of this initiative is not yet finalized and unknown to the common mass. It is evident that big corporates are now ready to spend billions in blockchain research and development. Outlook towards blockchain is changing for a better computing world. Voice your support!

The giant of social network has smelled something changing of new technology in the time to come. Our observation will direct to other giants' steps like: Twitter, Reddit..However, the FB's investment and research in blockchain from these initial steps generally show us that they can have an effect on the development orientation in blockchain technology. In spite of its recent protest, FB certainly adds to our understanding of the mandatory movements to maintain its competition in blockchain era.

i still don't understand what they are trying to create though! anything they make will be a centralized way of using the blockhcain technology and because of that it will have a low quality and value. it will be basically the same database that Facebook is already using..... correct me if i am wrong.

Even I have the same thought here. Facebook won't be creating something radically different server architecture from what they are using now. Also they won't be doing anything decentralized. Probably they will be implementing the blockchain technology to safeguard their data integrity and reduce data theft risks.

But it is too early to say anything. Since the announcement just cane yesterday that they will start exploring the blockchain. So we don't know what their thinking process is and what they are trying to implement. I am just happy that finally big corporates are realizing the power of blockchain.

FB has everything to develop a peer-to-peer payment system. They have the database, they have the connections between the parties, they know a lot about people, I can see no reason why they won't try to integrate a digital fiat based payment system into their system. Blockchain is needed to automatize and secure the system, so that can be the reason why they are thinking about it. But if I'm right, if they announce that they are thinking about something, in the background, most of the decisions are already been done and the development has been already started, but this is only my point of view.
Just have a look at China, their chat app has already taken away the interpersonal small money transactions from the banks and people are sending small amount via the app....

David A. Marcus is American & Swiss Entrepreneur who is the former president of PayPal , Now he is the mead of facebook messenger unit so he is thinking about to ban crypto currency ads but I think there is some issues of them but it should not they should help people to let them know about crypto currency because its digital money where as people are getting benefited from it. So they should think about this again.

This might end up like a "Facebook Credits" ver 2.0 that were used in game and applications on their platform.
Maybe this time, it could finally be used to send from one messenger to another lol (one fb account to another) .

I don't know anything with this but this can be an ideal for facebook if David will suggest not to adopt crypto but they will adopt blockchain.

So next innovation will be:

- Facebook users can now send credits / money to the people who they are chatting through facebook credits ver 2.0 or facebook pay.

With the past experience of David Marcus in paypal and coinbase,my observation is that Facebook might have it mind to create it own coin since it realised that she is the biggest and largest social media in the world. By exploring blockchain technology to be used within Facebook ecosystem it means Facebook cryptocurrency will soon come to the limelight. I suggest.

If this is good then it is good news but I still think anything they make use of blockchain technology will still be centralized however it might open more opportunity for cryptocurrency because facebook is a big company in which some other social network look up to so Facebook tapping into blockchain technology will certainly make some other company to do the same which means blockchain technology is gradually been adopted by more big and popular company. We hope to hear more from this again.

Such an biggy working on blockchain technology is a great news. This will increase the acceptibility of blockchain technology and people will understand that crypto is a modern day currency and all should accept it. This will be benficial for world economy and development.

It is very good to know David Marcus is now exploring block chain tech so that it could be used with in Facebook ecosystem.  It is very good that Facebook is supporting block chain and slowly it is implementing.

They will not create their own altcoin.

Why does this interest us?

this is an indication that social media giants Facebook are fans of the crypo system because no one can now deny the financial benefits , security and ease of doing business with this system.when Facebook announced that they would be banning crypto ads we all knew they took that stance to protect their  business against possible lawsuits and legal actions. This current move is a step in the right direction and will only serve to further foster the growth and development of our crypto ecosystem because as was proven the other day Facebook is a well spring of "raw" information and has also proven the influence it can have on its customers, in other words should Facebook eventually accept the system a huge number of its customers will also follow them to the crypto world.

That’s great news! With more than 2 billion users around the world, Facebook would finally put to rest the claims of skeptics that cryptocurrency is a scam or a Ponzi Scheme. A giant leap towards becoming mainstream.

I wouldn't say that it is the next innovation since they have already made it in the past.
Yes, it have been implemented on the closed beta of FB credits. They discontinued it when they introduced the newer game card feature.

That’s great news! With more than 2 billion users around the world, Facebook would finally put to rest the claims of skeptics that cryptocurrency is a scam or a Ponzi Scheme. A giant leap towards becoming mainstream.

I'd think it's too early to celebrate and say it as a giant leap.
Who knows, it might be the opposite. Instead of contributing to the crypto world, it will end up with a negative effect.
