Both of the coins stated has a better team behind it. Making moves to make their coin better on every aspects.
Ethereum is much more experimental while Ripple is profit oriented.

I never thinking if ripple will able to beat bitcoin but as far as i know about the potential competitor to the bitcoin is the only ethereum because it has more transaction fees compared with bitcoin and that means widely adoption of ethereum already started. Ether needs only to doubled on its current price to take over the bitcoin's place. Ripple is the only developing banker system for profit.

To be able to beat down BTC then eth and xrp need more support, more support means more valuable, but I doubt xrp will got the support because it's centralized, if Bitcoin keep on develop and upgrading then I don't see any other coin could beat down Bitcoin, if the investors need to choose between those three, most of the investors will choose btc

It will take longer to win the recognition and support of most people. It requires more advanced technology and requires a faster and more secure transaction status. In my opinion, the current bitcoin, more as a symbol of a digital asset than its function as a cryptocurrency.
Probably technically, bitcoin has been defeated from ether and ripple, but bitcoin will still be the first because people will buy bitcoin because of its big name, not its function.
