I've been seeing many members writing a sum of 1 million as 1.000.000 <<<Is this correct way of writing it?
However I was taught in school that if there is a decimal it means the value after that would be in cents. So, I would always write 1 million as 1,000,000

I some languages (such as Brazilian Portuguese), 1 million is written as 1.000.000 instead of 1,000,000. And interestingly, decimals are usually separated by ",".
For example, 17,695.25 in English will be written as 17.695,25 in Brazilian Portuguese.

To me it seems natural to write "1.000.000" this way maybe because of the mathematics and such i don't know

I always wondered about this. Metric system beats the US system. All this trouble with mph, inches, feet, gallons etc.

Common sense should work. If not, make sure that you're not responsible for someone else's fault.

He thinks the whole European continent is Russia. That should be enough answer.

Considering China, USA, Japan, India, and Australia all use a period '.' for decimal places, it's clear who the winner is.
1,000,000 = 1 million 1.000.000 = The number 1. No not many people use a double decimal place nor is it widely understood.

"winner"? Lol. By that logic, forget English as language, its clear that Mandarin is the winner, followed by Spanish. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_languages_by_number_of_native_speakersNow pls rewrite your post in Mandarin. You may also want to start saying the year is 4000 something instead of 2013.

To me it seems natural to write "1.000.000" this way maybe because of the mathematics and such i don't know Because of mathematics that's the wrong way to write it.... 1.000000000000 = 1. Can't get any simpler than that. Of course, just use common sense. If someone wants to sell you say 1.000.000 DogeCoins for say 2 bitcoins, it's obvious he's talking about 1 million DogeCoins, not 1 DogeCoin.

Sometimes it gets frustrating, when you switch from coding to formatting some pricelist. I wish there would be only one language in the world (english or maybe chinese/japanese) and only metric system. Screw inches and farenheit
