Hi, All

Can anyone tell me if the following website is legit? I didn't notice the web address until I failed to log into my account.
I'm afraid it might be a phishing site.

https://bitcointalk.to

Thanks,

It's not a legit. It's a phishing site. Since you've failed to log in, you've already sent your account details to the malicious entity behind it. Change your credentials immediately or you're going to lose your account.

You may also want to change passwords to other accounts across different sites with similar usernames if you use the same password for them.

Up to this! This is my first time visiting that website and really looks a phishing site. I hope that the moderators will see this for clarification. Nice catch!

I failed to log into my account.

Change your account login details as soon as possible because you have sent your login credentials to this website and as far as I know, this is not the official mirror of Bitcointalk.org so instead of reading further, change your login details immediately.

OMG ~ the whole site is duplicated.

Thank you !! I've taken the necessary action to reset my password.  Glad that my username is only used in this forum.

Thanks,

As soon as i've read this i checked if i was on the original site. I think you may want to:

Change your account login details as soon as possible because you have sent your login credentials.
And bookmark this forum as a preventive measure, so whenever you feel like logging in agan you just click on the bookmarks and find bitcointalk.org that way you won't need to think if you're phished or not.

Honestly, it's really hard to tell the difference, and I didn't notice the different web address until the failure of login caught my attention.

change your login details immediately.

Yes....I've changed my account password before I submitted this post here because in the crypto-world...so many scams and phishing things.

Hope other unknown victims can realize soon and take necessary actions.

Both are exactly same. Very difficult to find any difference. This crypto universe is full of scammers. If you have login their or tried to login there change your bitcointalk.org password immediately else your account will be captured soon.

Ironically, the way how I found this phishing site was that I googled some key word like "crypto transaction scam" and one of the google results directed me to a nice post this site has.

Just like what others said it's not a legit site, always check the URL properly.

Change your password before you account got hacked.

This site has been up for a long time and continues to phish other people's accounts. As the site also has the exact same duplicate contents as this forum, this phishing site might also get high SEO rank while searching on google.

I had too got in the same situation but these things easily pointed that it's not the original :
1. All the threads of the fake forum appear read (because not logged in)
2. Your account name, Watchlist, Avatar, etc is not displayed in the top navigation bar.

Actually, I did discover the phishing site when I searched something on google as the site is on the first few results!!! It's a good thing I noticed the ".to".
From time to time, I'm still seeing the duplicate site on the first page of google results, I even clicked it LOL, which is why I decided to just block the site--and every sketchy websites I encounter

If you want to do the same, Check this: How do I block a website?

Another feature you can see that shows you that something fishy is going on are the dates of the posts.
The Today date of post kind of camouflages it rather well, but if you keep scrolling down you will see that posts are relative to the 13th of January 2018.

The global forum stats refer January 15, 2018, 02:45:27 PM as the current date on the top right corner of the page.

Anyone who has tried the .to fake link better clear their browser cache now to avoid getting back there now.
If you logged in there reset the password ASAP on the legit site.

You can also add to your local host file a line to avoid accessing the scam site any more: 127.0.0.1 bitcointalk.to

Google captcha doesn't function properly on Bitcointalk dot to. This might be one of its differences with the legit Bitcointalk forum site.
