I believe that cryptocurrencies are the future, and can bring a new era of prosperity and happiness to humanity. After carefully investigating (and using) bitcoin I came to the conclusion that while revolutionary, there are some fundamental shortcomings. Yes, I registered because I want to start being active in the community, especially in the alternative currencies. At this moment I am studying the source code and thinking of crucial components that this new currency should have. If anyone is interested in helping me code (from scratch, no pay) a new currency with features like encrypted blockchain, blockchain that scales as the number of nonempty wallets increases (as opposed to one that scales with the number of transactions), stochastic hashing, and other innovations, feel free to reply here or send me a PM!

Also, if you have a Renaissance-inspired coin name suggestion, I would be happy to use it Smiley

This will be fun.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Do you mean Leonardo da Vinci? Haha, vincicoin or leocoin definitely don't sound too catchy. Maybe dacoin?  Grin monacoin? lisacoin?

I bet that when people say lisacoin they will rather think of the Simpsons than Mona Lisa.

Yea, the name must be a bit less generic. Maybe Lorenzocoin? In honor of Lorenzo Medici, a patron of the arts who pretty much single-handedly funded the Renaissance.

I'm not the most creative person on this board but Lorenzocoin sucks Smiley Medcoin sounds far better , but I can almost hear the jokes about it.

y3804, thanks for the suggestions. I don't think those names are appropriate for a global cryptocurrency. They seem to imply it is primarily used to support the art of painting. My goal is more ambitious!
stompix, jokes are not always bad. Think of dogecoin Smiley

No problem mate. I know they aren't appropriate. Just throwing some ideas around. What are you aiming for? Mainly about Leonardo da Vinci or renaissance humanism in a more general way

Thinking of something that would mimic the sentiment at the Urbino court during the late 15th-early 16th centuries. What really inspired people like Piero della Francesca and Raphael?

Religion ? most of the paintings in that era are based on scenes from the Bible.
Godcoin?

I see, well, I feel that you shouldn't try too hard.. You need something catchy and obvious, not some weird reference to a 15th century worker.. Wink

stompix, religion was the inspiration mainly for the medieval, Gothic and early Renaissance artists. For example, Fra Angelico was deeply religious, and through his genius he was able to express it in his paintings. Late Renaissance was different.

y3804, what's Luminarium?

And yes, I'm not stressing too much over the name. It's the technical component which is of course the key here. But we can discuss that in a more official thread Smiley

Just call it Rcoin , with a big shiny R and get into actual development.
You can re-brand it afterwards Smiley.

Thanks, stompix, Rcoin would be ideal for now. It is taken though!
Seems like https://github.com/rcoin is taken by another crypto Smiley Well, I don't care.
For now it will simply be Renaissance coin.
Look for me in the alt currencies board soon, if you are curious.
