Criterium
A coin on this list may have one, a few, or all of the following qualities. A coin makes this list based on my personal knowledge and general intuition in regards to cryptocurrency.
--
Trait
-Launched on obscure website(Altcointalk, Cryptocointalk)
-Premine > 1% of total coins.
-Unfair Frontloaded Mining Rewards(> 20% in year 1, mec being the sole exclusion, for now. it should be here, but the creator put enough time into it and made a small innovation that it escapes for now.)
-Sole Purpose is to make the Dev Rich(Frankos should be here, but with a lack of unfair advantage and generally squeaky clean reputation of the dev, it escapes for now)
-No Innovation(majority of coins on this list)
-Propped up by bots and thread bumped often by low activity posters, indicating bot activity in the thread)
-Frequently Pumped
-Generally shows no purpose or promise
-Has no services(5 minute bootstrap/Ecommerce sites don't count as a service)
-Lacks 51% protection(Majority of PoW coins, Scrypt algorithm being especially vulnerable)
-Cloned from Foocoin, Fehcoin, Blehcoin etc.
-Non Organic Growth, charachterized by unusually high promotion compared to activity surrounding the coin.
-Lack of a plan for the future/Lack of dev support/vacant dev's.
-Stagnant Market
-Hastily Planned Development/No preannouncement

1a. Quarkcoin

1b. New!! Auroracoin -- the biggest scam ever. Rumored to be promoted by BCX.

2. New!! Doge-- "hey lets make a coin based on a meme. Derp, this was a bad idea,  sell sell sell!" lets have a moment of silence for the bagholders, those poor poor souls.

3. Orbitcoin -- Probably the bravest scamcoin of all time. I think this was meant as a joke initially. Developer premined so many coins it will take 20 years worth of mining to even equal the total coins mined.

4. New!!Mazacoin -- Just another notch on the bedpost of scams. Mazacoin plays on hype that an "indian nation" is backing it, when in reality the only thing backing it is a 5 dollar copy and paste job.

5. New!! 42 - perhaps not a scam, but again bagholders. Dev is all around good guy though, and has never had so much as a rumor of scam surrounding his reputation, however you can ignore the rareness factor and the greed created there in.  Currently crashing and dying while investors panick to not be left holding the bag.

6. Bitbar -- The mother of all scamcoins, when you consider the price per coin. born a scam but somehow prevailed. only idiots buy this coin, falling for the lofty price on exchanges.

7. Alphacoin -- Premined scamcoin, never caught on because of obvious scam tactics of developers.

8. Stablecoin --premined 1 million coins, dumped heavily on the exchange, then pumped repeatedly until it crashed and dwelled amongst the bottom for a few months. Has seen a recent ressurection by the developer. Might turn out to be a decent coin. either that or dev has just been collecting tons of them at low difficulty and is ready for scam pump round two.

9. Elacoin--This coin was developed by tradefortress, and litterally is to slow to be useful. Started out as a good coin but was abandoned after problems with the difficulty retarget arose.

10. Cosmocoin --This clone of Fehcoin would go on to launch 80% of all Proof Of Stake clone coins, such as Galaxycoin which still said Cosmocoin in the toolbar and gui. actually a decent coin, but again, it was born as a pump and dump

11. Asiccoin--A classic case of false advertising and poorly chosen difficulty parameters, asiccoin lives on as a warning to those who think they can make a sha 256 coin instamine proof with starting difficulty of 0.

12. Casinocoin--total joke, flamed out and died immediately upon launch. early investors on cryptsy lost alot of money.

13. Emeralds--clone of bitgem, in an attempt to create a simarly priced asset the developer could mine en masse.

14. Diamonds--clone of emeralds. not much known, seems popular

15. Grandcoin--chinese scamcoin, no real purpose. instamined.

16. Globalcoin--started out strong, but reputation of developer preceded it and lead to its demise. At one point in time there were several services for the coin, which seem to be mysteriously missing all of a sudden.

17. Galaxycoin--Such a terrible coin, not even worth discussing. The first developers to introduce the tactic of multiple sockpuppet accounts bumping the thread to make it appear extremely popular.

18. Krugercoin--Premined, released on Altcoin talk. Developer likely sockpuppet of muddafudda

19 New!!Astrocoin-- Backdoored and Premined, developers rarely supported it once dumping the premine. now they've re emerged after a 5 minute copy paste of the kimoto gravity well, ready to find a couple more suckers to buy in and eat their bags,as they've been actively mining it while it was considered dead by the community.

20. Spots--Had a fair start, was a decent coin with good developer support. Dev got greedy, dumped all his coins and moved on to new coins Copperbars and Lottery Tickets, his latest abomination.

21. Tagcoin--A scam, gullible chinese traders who have difficulty understanding english buy this coin up in anticipation of commercial success/acceptance. Anyone with a brain see's its 13 year old Indian/Philipino dev team is a scam waiting to happen.

22. New!!Unobtanium--greedy developer who was once respected but should be seen for what he has become: a pump and dump creator who loves a good instamine.

23. Joulecoin--just another scam playing on a rarity factor. called out immediately by the community.

25. Collosuscoin--Developed by a scammer, who is the developer of 99% of all scams on this board. who once developed many scam coins but finally stopped to pursue more noble means of revenue. Still can't trust the muddafudda as far as you could throw em   Wink

26. Ezcoin

27. Solidcoin--Developed by realsolid, owner/operator of MCXNOW and legendary scammer of hundreds, maybe thousands of bitcoins MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

28. Elephantcoin

29. New!!Darkcoin -- Racist scam coin.

30. Infinitecoin--Scamcoin taking advantage of lowest decimal place on Cryptsy.com, allowed for doubling your money by pumping the coin from .0000001 to .0000002. truely a well thought out con.

31. Applecoin

32. New!! Maxcoin-- ponzi scheme, using the name of C-lister Max Keiser

33. New!! Cachecoin-- Just another scam with no innovation and scarce availability. Early investors will cry rivers by the time all is said and done.

34. United Scrypt Coin
35. New!! Mintcoin -- Just another scam pump and dump with tons of hype and no innovation. avoid it unless you're stupid. created by mintpal.

36. New!! RonPaulcoin -- Fraudulent coin which plays on the paranoid super liberal, and their inherent gullibility. Coin is nothing special, should be worthless, but speculators gonna speculate i suppose.

37. Lotto Coin

38. Chococoin

39. Frozen-- Doesn't fit criteria, but seems like a scam.

40. Unioncoin

Removed From List:

32. Nextcoin**Java based exodus style coin operating inside bitcoin blockchain. attempting to capitalize on popularity of Mastercoin, which is still a borderline scam but has mucho support by Hero Members. Finally made it onto an exchange, but is still an early investment ponzi scheme.

33. Mastercoin Removed Due to amount of Work/Support of community. Still seems like a scam, but we'll see how it shakes out.

19. Phoenixcoin**Developers were suspected scammers from the start. went on to start an exchange and stole thousands of btc worth of altcoins as well as all bitcoins of its users. Resurrected by community after original scammer development team left. i think we can give the coin a break now.

29. Gamecoin**one of the most disasterous altcoins ever made. eventually resurrected by Ahmed Bodhi who also repaired bytecoin after its original developer left. Just another scrypt clone attempting to play on the gullible investor, the current reincarnation justifies its removal from the list.

4. CopperBars**another igotspots coin. remains one of the most profitable cpu coins to mine. Little justified it being here, other than the secrecy surrounding the authorship of the currency.

3. Lottery Tickets**This coin is here solely because of the "Dev" igotspots. Complete junkcoin, also cpu only. has unique random block rewards. Dev sticks by the coin, and there was no unfair premine, so i suppose it never belonged here anyway. Not with the likes of the current generationsof altcoin scams, atleast.

35. Securecoin**The Developer removed Quarkcoin copyrights, lied about hashing algorithms, and mismarketed the coin as being new and revolutionary when in fact its just a clone of Quarkcoin with fair, logical block rewards and no premine/instamine. so while being born out of a lie, little actually justifies this coin being on the list. Other than lying about the coin parameters and origin of this coin, the developer, baritus, is generally trustworthy and also has recently opened an altcoin trading platform based in Panama, called Crypto Avenue.

This is a list of "good" coins?
If it's a list of scam coins, where YaCoin and NovaCoin?

Edit: Looks like a list of random coins from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134179.0

I speak the truth. all coins on this list are propped up scam coins, high time they are cut down and eliminated. Part of evolution is separating the cream from the crop, and you sure can't make butter from any of these shitcoins, that have nothing more than a few lines and variables changed.

I am curious why Stablecoin would be a scam coin.  Is it because the "coin mixing" service isn't implemented yet?

You are so shortsighted. The AltCoin world is different now. All that matters for a coin is a viable network and it is on an exchange. Big money (hedge funds) is pouring into coins, everything will skyrocket.

You want your coin to skyrocket, promote it and get it on an exchange. Stop slamming other coins it doesn't help your cause.

Dude, have you been to the grocery store lately? 90% of all market items are clones of each other with just different marketing.

A coin that is the same as another with just different marketing is not a scam coin, it's just a clone coin. Scam coins are ones that have been set up to make the originator and his few close friends rich in the initial mining bubble, generally premined or insta-mined stuff.

Stuff like Goldcoin, Casinocoin, etc. Clones. They're not bad, just trying to market to different buyer segments. As it's said, you need all types.

Mine CasinoCoin with the CasinoCoin Slashers, daily backups, fast transactions, block finder rewards, secured server!

Trust me, it deserves its ranking. At the time it was released, hundreds of new coins were being released with a sole purpose of being listed on the brand new, Cryptsy.com Altcoin exchange. It was released, crashed and burned time and time again. Only people who prop it up are bag holders. It can easily be time traveled and killed, only reason it hasn't is because the coin murder is currently busy with bigger fish to fry

Why do you want to misled people? You know I'm right about the big money coming into Altcoins. Just look at the last month. Poor loser or just a loser? Oh I get it you sold everything on the way down! You convinced yourself that everything was a scam.

There is so much money to be made in the market place with 99% of the coins on your list. If your not taking advantage of the massive volatility and fluctuations of these alt coins, you sir need to start making smarter investments.

Cloning a successful business model is a GOOD IDEA, and does not make the coin a scam.

Oh btw, Quark is sitting at 39 million market cap, quick folks unload now before it crashes and burns.
