Good thinking. Now he's given up selling them, they will increase in price due to rarity.

I think they're sexy as hell! The defining image for Casascius. That coin is sizzling hot and I think it'll make a great sale one day in a couple years with some polished marketing material. Plus most of them are guranateed to be in mint condition if the previous owner wasn't an idiot.

If someone is serious about selling they'll contact me and we'll discuss price.

I'm not gonna force anyone to sell. Why pay that premium? Eventually they'll be in need of something.

Not a fan of the brass coins or anything lower than 1BTC. I kinda just buy the stuff I think looks hot.  Sure wish I could get my hands on one of them gold coins.  Grin

Just for the sake of sharing information, I've turned down 25 BTC & 30 BTC offers for my 10 BTC silver coins with & without the gold B respectively.  That was BEFORE Casascius closed up shop.

Also only 393 of the 10s exist (funded).

I believe Mike has created them all himself, yes. While 27k is a large number, you now need to contrast that versus how many coins are still funded as well as the tremendous demand that will continue to flow into this secondary market. Add in the fact that Casascius coins may well be a collectors item with a print run that just ended and you can start to see why Casascius coin holders are not parting with their rare items even at 2-5x face value.

In my opinion most of these coins are priceless come 2016 onwards. Bitcoin will be a household name across planet Earth, and Casascius coins will be an everlasting symbol of Bitcoin's early days. I expect these coins to be one of the most sought after collectable items in our time period.

I didn't mean to imply they didn't have value because of the relatively large number. Just more surprised Mike did that quantity all himself. He's had a busy couple of years!! And pretty profitable I'm sure.

It is pretty crazy to ponder just how much time and effort Mike put into this in a few short years, isnt it?. I hope the man does well, he will go down in history as one of the first Bitcoin entrepreneurs to grace just about every financial magazine (or at least his handiwork has).

Yep. Gone down in history, and hopefully done well out of it as well.

Yeah Mike's great! And there's no reason for him to stop. Just a suspension. It'll dissolve once the bullshit's sorted out.  The government's being barbaric as usual.

If the concerns are money laundering, he'll probably just have to move to self-funded coins instead of his current model, which sucks, but keeps him in business.
