I live on a small island in Denmark that is famous for it's community based work with renewable energy sources.

We are trying at the moment to raise money to start a fund to put up 4 - 8 3MW wind turbines.

The business model is as follows:

300.000 Danish kroner to start the fund. Once this money is paid to the state to start the fund it is gone forever.

1.500.000 Danish kroner to carry out the legally required environmental impact report. If the project is successful the 1.500.000 is refunded by the state.

Once the report is finished and any eventual complaints / protests are processed, the fund loans the required funds to actually put up the wind turbines. The loan will total be a maximum of 240.000.000 Danish kroner, this type of loan has an apr. of about 1,25%.

Each turbine including loan repayment generates around 21.000.000 Danish kroner per year.

According to Danish law 20% of the turbines have to be offered to the public - firstly those that live within a radius of 2,8km, then 4km and thereafter the 20% is available to any interested parties.

In this case if the maximum of 8 wind turbines are erected then 2 turbines have to be offered in parts of 100.

Anyone participating in funding the project will have first refusal on parts of a third turbine.

All other profit from the remaining turbines is to be used locally to boost jobs, schools and sports facilities.

Fund raising efforts for the initial 300.000 start locally at the end of February 2014.

I'm not asking for Bitcoins now, I'm asking for your consideration and an open discussion about the project.

Imagine a 250m high wind turbine with a Bitcoin logo on it and what that could do for cementing Bitcoin as a legitimate currency.

And a quick after thought - wonder if the local bank could be persuaded to have a Bitcoin wallet for the project?

Well a bitcoin logo on an island isnt going to help much. but getting the whole island over would be cool.

I'm looking to get a few KW of power via wind to run my mining rigs Smiley

The exposure would be huge. We have visitors from all over the world who actually come and look at the wind turbines, solar panel farms and the like.

All of the islands power is provided by wind turbines or solar panels. I'm investing in a couple of small panels for my little rig.

The island is called Samsø if anyone wants to google it.

Would be cool to see even more wind/solar out in the world! I wish a 10KW system wasn't 60 grand Sad I'd have one in the back yard.

There should be rebates on all renewable energy sources...
