News from Devs! everyone! I want to remind everyone of the upcoming Ether-1 fork (at block 1 million) that will start the block reward reduction schedule. If you are running a pool, solo mining or running your own node and have not upgraded yet to the latest binary please goto https://github.com/Ether1Project/Ether1/releases and download V4. All desktop wallets have been upgraded automatically and masternodes/service nodes are already running the update. |

Here's the latest news on the ethoFS development:

A quick update for everyone. The ethofs alpha group got the go ahead last night to start the update for version 2 of the gateway node setup. Users have been completing the update without issue and we now have node providing over 1.5 TB of storage space available to the content delivery network. Testing will continue over the next few weeks to ensure full functionality. Keep checking in with us as our future announcements regarding ethofs development!

It boils down to the way they're implementing IPFS across their masternodes. They'll be able to host web content or dapps distributed across their masternodes. (As opposed to a project like Pirl which you need an app to interface with their content.) As far as I know, no one else is implementing anything like this. Here's the paragraph summary:
Ether-1 is an Ethereum based blockchain that integrates POW and a two tier masternode system to secure the network. Ether-1 uses the collective power of hundreds of masternodes to power EthoFS, a fully decentralized hosting platform that uses combination of a blockchain indexing system and the ipfs protocol to deliver decentralized content on-demand. Users can interface with the EthoFS network through variety of ways, including an innovative instantaneous browser based node, allowing them to drag and drop content they wish to deploy and index on the blockchain. The browser based node automatically uploads and replicates the content to the entire network. The ethoFS system is a fully functioning website hosting solution utilizing the node network for storage and bandwidth. Masternode owners are paid through a block reward, and receive a share of the profit generated by hosting fees, an innovative way for node owners to take ownership in providing network functinality and security.
