Hi everyone.

I"m an American based in Chengdu / US West Coast ... currently in contact with this guy in Chengdu (see links) about buying my first mining rig. He says he has one available on 25 Dec (yes Christmas ...) that he can sell for RMB 15000 or about USD2500. I'm speaking to him through an intermediary and still waiting for specs. Apparently he has done well for himself mining ...

What should I expect for that price? I'm familiar with parts of a PC, but have a real job and not a lot of time to be playing with hardware, so wondering if it makes sense to just buy a rig or hire someone locally to build one for me?

Perhaps this belongs in the Noob forum ... but thought perhaps everyone would be interested in learning with me about the state of alt-currency mining in West China. Links follow:

Btw, late in the Chinese article I believe it states he sells rigs for up to ~USD ++100k - what the hell kind of rig is that?

I'm told his US$2500 rig runs at 180-220G and currently generates about 0.1 BTC/day ... does that sound right? How much better could one do building a rig from scratch? Or how does that compare with rigs available in the US?

I'd be extremely extremely careful. "Apparently he has done well for himself mining" doesn't really convince me. If so, why is he selling?

To be frank, mining is horribly competitive at the moment. People are really struggling to make any ROI given the network hashrate increasing so much.

Personally, I'd look to invest in a mining outfit like ASICMINER
