Antminer s9 PSU failed possibly due to overheat

Hello everybody,

My 220v 12v 1600w Chinese generic power supply has failed, my best guess is due to overheating, I wasn't at the place when it failed. Now I checked every component I could do with my DMM (caps, inductors, resistors, diodes, MOSFETs, BJTs, relay) and every item was OK. Its relay doesn't click and output is 0.00 volts.

There are two ICs on the high voltage side of the unit, NCP1399 and ice3pcs01g. I also managed to replace the NCP1399 since I thought it might be dead. The voltage on the HV pin of the NCP1399 is around 300v.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

idea 1 - Stop using cheap generic chinese PSUs barely rated for the power draw of an s9

idea 2 - throw the psu away and buy something more reliable, you might find a failure point but there will be no way to confirm what caused the failure, and you dont want to band aid repair a generic fire hazard PSU anyway

I already have the PSU replaced with a Bitmain one, but I wanted to repair this one as well if possible, for some other jobs maybe.

Please be very careful and think twice before deciding to use repaired low end tech.

I have been doing this for longer than most and have had just about everything blow up in my face

so I implore you to use caution
