If it goes that low there's no point in buying. Such price would only be caused by a total collapse of the market due to some virus or total network failure.

Do not underestimate the possibility someone just sells a lot of coins at once. It would be foolish, but posible. It would be worth buying at these prices then

Do not underestimate the possibility someone just sells a lot of coins at once. It would be foolish, but posible. It would be worth buying at these prices then

$0 Bitcoin is an apocalyptic scenario it just won't happen, you're talking about all the hundreds of millions of dollar investments going to the dumpsters, All the startups shutting down, miners abandoning their mining equipment and aspics, bitcoin hacked to the ground and spat on, all the big exchanges shutting down with their owners fleeing into 3rd world hell holes.

Think about it, there is too much smart money behind bitcoin it's going forward nowhere else. Yes we will have price corrections but not single or even double digits ever again!

The price will most likely continue to go down for a little while now, but how much and for how long is hard to say. $450 and $570 are important levels on MtGox ($380 and $540 on Bitstamp). I am placing my buy orders between $540 and $700 on Bitstamp, but I have an optimistic bullish bias and have already secured a pretty nice profit so YMMV.

Well turns out I was being a little too optimistic, but the lowest levels I mentioned ($450 Gox/$380 Stamp) were pretty accurate at least to catch a nice bounce. I think those levels will hold but nothing is certain in bitcoin.

Well if you had bought at $480 as I said, you could have exited out at $550 and made a tidy profit.

I don't understand your motivations, either you are day-trading in which case you don't care about long term trends, or you are in it for the long term in which case short term dips mean nothing. It seems to me that you've just taken a fat hit because you couldn't make your mind up. I will shed digital tears for you when it goes past $600 later today.

PS. Have you just seen the price?  Bitstamp almost at 580, Now is the time to sell. It will pop back down below $550 before the day is up so you can rebuy at a profit and make up some of those losses. Just a little day trading tip.

I am just a little bit pissed that I mistimed my buy-in and sold prematurely on the bounce....boo hoo hoo poor little me.

It may well go above $600 today. Oh well, a $1200 dollar loss could have been a $500 gain. Win some ye lose some. but at $600 dollars, the 240 minute chart still looks like this:
