Hi there

I am currently developing some mining pool frontend, and I need some help from you guys right now!
I would like to test the pool under load. We are currently mining on the namecoin blockchain for testing, but our payouts will still be BTC!

If you could spare a couple GH/s that would really be awesome. Just go to
Mine-For.us!

register, create some workers for your mining clients, and point your miners up to us!

Oh, and before I forget:

We have some BIG TIME Promo
Everyone that joins our Test will receive 0.00003 BTC / valid submitted share!

However you will need to submit at least 5000 valid shares in order to be eligible for this!
Everyone that produces less will receive 0.00002 BTC/valid share!

What are you still waiting for? Go to Mine-For.US and start earning!

found a bug on your website.. I didn't have a bitcoin address handy when I first signed up.

Now, even when I am logged in, going to the settings page returns the "Welcome Stranger" page.

So, I need that fixed so I can put in my bitcoin address please!

also, what happens after the first 850,000 shares?

Hello Digiami,

as far as I know the Settings page will be ready later today. Then you can enter/edit your Bitcoin Address. However, for the second question I don't have a answer. Antares is very reliable, I guess he will answer your question later today.

The settings page is still not properly set up. Please note that we are currently just testing the pool. All the payouts are done from a private wallet right now. So don't worry about the after 850k share barrier!

Definitely a tempting offer. The best at the moment, in fact.

Manual/instant payouts possible from account balance, or only upon block discovery?

Hi there,

currently the pool is still configured for proportional payout, which is why we will payout on demand or when the test ends.
As we are currently crunching in the namecoin chain(to reduce the obvious loss on our sides), the money comes out of another bitcoin client anyways.

So yes, this offer is tempting, and that's what it was designed to be.

Oh, and as 2 PMs have arrived me asking about whether we could pay out: We have reserved 30 Bitcoins for this test, which means we have backup funds for at least 1 Million shares. If all runs well, we might consider getting more Bitcoins for extended testing.

Please note: When you sign up for an acount, the default value for Pool donations is 50%. OFC this is a ridiculously high value, and I wish to announce, that during testing we will NOT take any donations from your earnings. You will be paid without deductions!

Is that a namecoin block or a bitcoin block? Not relevant for payouts apparently, just wondering.

We are currently mining namecoins for two reasons:
a) We cannot expect our pool to find a bitcoin block with these low hashrates for now. As we invest 30BTC into this(which is quite a large investment) we increase our chances of getting a lower loss(as we can use the namecoins for other projects). Currently one Namecoin block is like 1.65BTC, and it's about 18 times more probable to find one. That means on 1M shares we make 16.5BTC in Namecoins vs a probable 0 in BTC, cutting our probable losses by a good 50%

b) I personally do like the namecoin project, as it has use and I hate how the greedy parts of the bitcoin community treats it everytime difficulty sinks down for like 3 days.

However, if all goes well, we will soon switch over to the real Bitcoin blockchain!

Nice, 2nd block down!

I'm still a little fuzzy on what happens when your test period ends, at 850,000 shares or now 1mil?

Will the server continue to offer work or will it just shut down? If it continues to offer work, will there be any payouts for that work?

In any case, I would like to request you put the total share count for the test somewhere on the site, so that once we hit 850k or 1m, I can direct my miners elsewhere again?

(mainly just want to avoid continuing work if there will not be any payout, if there will be continued compensation I would be more then happy to keep them pointed to your pool)

Is there something wrong with the stats on the page.

Round history doesnt seems to be updated.

Current round time 3h 56m, current block 18642. That block did start like 11 mins ago.

We will not shut down the server of course. The Server will still continue handing out work, unless there is some urgent reason to shut it down(remember we are testing stability and the pool frontend/engine). We are currently considering whether we will let it on PPS after the testing period or whether we will set it to PPLNS ("semi"-hopper-proof proportional). On the one hand, of course PPS is nice for miners, on the other hand there's the problem that we could face a monster block that takes us many million shares to solve it, which could make us default(I mean, c'mon, an 8mil share block would cost us like BTC240), and we don't want that to happen. On the other hand PPLNS offers only basic protection against poolhoppers and long blocks that would be inconvenient to the miners. So we are still thinking about this, but most likely we will let the users decide.

about the total share count for the test(we decided to raise it to 1Million to be round, I'll update funds and the front page tomorrow)... I will put it on the round history page tomorrow(damn it's 3 AM again over here).

Last but not least, we will definetely continue to pay out after we have reached our testing goal, given that no disastrous catastrophies happen.

It can sometimes be a bit delayed, although it should not be 11 minutes. Currently, all those data are updated in a 5 minute-interval, just to be on the safe side with performance and to make the hashing-rates spike out less. I'm also already working on a way to take more mature data into account when calculating these so we can make the update periods shorter.

Thank you for pointing it out to me, though, I'll definitely investigate this!

And to all the others here, we always appreciate feedback(we hope for it in fact!)

Hi Nebuluz,

We are currently simply out of luck. Usually, like with bitcoin, you find a block every n shares, where n is the current difficulty(which is 94037 for namecoin right now). However, this is just some average. You could probably see it on other pools, which sometimes have unlucky bitcoin round where it takes a couple million shares to find a block. However I'm looking forward that we will find some pool soon!

These are the current numbers for our pool(used 94038 for difficulty and 10GH for pool speed) for finding a block:
Probability   Time
Average   11 hours, 13 minutes
50%   7 hours, 46 minutes
95%   1 day, 9 hours, 36 minutes

also if anyone wants a payout please do not forget to inform me or use live support to request it(btw, settings page is now online, so those that did not enter a valid/no bitcoin wallet adress when registering can put theirs now in!)
