Hello everyone.  I've just gotten into crypto currency this past week, and I've come across a question.  Thus far, I've been doing nothing but pool mining, however, one of the pools I'm in keeps getting DDoSed. Because of this, I've been thinking about switching to Solo Mining for a bit (at least while it's down).

My question is:

I saw that to do solo mining you need to make a special .conf file for the wallet.  Will this hamper my ability to use pools later, or will I be able to switch between Solo and Pool Mining with no problem?

Thanks in advance!

no, u can create a separate cgminer.conf for solo and one for pooled.

and swap them out.  i have 10 different .conf files for all the different pools use, and one for solo

If you mine Bitcoin I strongly recommend using pool mining, just look for a different one.
Otherwise you won't mine any Bitcoins at all.

Thank you for the posts, they were very helpful.

I am mining Dogecoin right now.  I figured that, since it was fairly new, I might be able to get lucky doing a bit of Solo Mining while my pool is down.
