I tried solo CPU mining from a hotel room room starting about 24-36 hours after Dogecoin was released for about 8 hours, when the difficulty was at less than 5, and did not hit a block. At that time, the insta-mine was still strong and blocks were being mined every 5-10 seconds. Now the difficulty is >100, the block time has slowed down, and I would not expect a CPU to hit a block any time soon. Like the previous poster says, go find a pool. I am using
www.dogepool.net which does not have insane VARDIFF and you could contribute with a CPU and make several hundred DOGE per day. However, since DOGE is actually worthless, it does not really amount to much-- but after 8 months of mining BTC & LTC, it's fun to count your coins in "large" increments. That is all.
