I'm setting up a Asus B250 and I have 12 cards to add to but i got stuck at 8 (RX580's XFX). When I add the 9th HWiNFO64 see's it and monitors it, the B250 BIOS recognises it but Windows 10 device manager does not and nor does Afterburner (they both stop at 8 ). I have the current version of Win 10 so the 1709 fix for this issue isn't or shouldn't be the problem. I switched to SMOS to give that a try but it get's stuck at 4 GPU's and I can't add any more. I have an excessive amount of power available (1 x corsair 850W and 1 x Delta 2400W) so this should not be a problem. The rig runs well with the 8 cards at about 240 mhs with very little tweaking done but I obviously need to get these other cards up and running. They are RX570's by the way. Thanx in advance for any input.

Afterburner only allows 8. I believe that motherboard only allows 8 AMD as well.

yup, as far as I know you can have 8 amd + 8 nvidia cards at the same time in Win 10. Try linux.

I tried SMOS which is a Ubuntu derivative and it was worse.... only 4 GPU''s worked? Is Claymore with Ubuntu on it's own any better?

I think latest AMD Adrenalin drivers support more than 8 GPUs. Are you on blockchain drivers?

From what I remember limit is 8 GPU per brand. I think it's limitation within Windows , not only within drivers. Thats why 13 card setup was so popular (8 NVIDIA +5 AMD). Maybe with new drivers you can have 8+8 but if you are looking to populate all slots you need to look for mining specific OS. Sadly can't recommmend you one, myself I never had to use one.

This is why you shouldnt run Windows as a mining OS. Its a piece of crap. Dont be lazy, run linux and profit.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

It's more like system limitation. Using Linux must be solving your problem (like the other said), but am not sure why you aren't able to do it with Linux. Splitting your rig will be better. With less cards, your rig will be more stable.

Does'nt need Linux. See here: https://mining.help/2017/12/10/windows-10-mining-guide-for-amd-gpus-12-gpu-supported/Both Windows 10 and AMD Drivers support 12 AMD cards.

I think latest AMD Adrenalin drivers support more than 8 GPUs. Are you on blockchain drivers? Gave this a try and I was able to add a ninth card BUT when i added the 10th Claymore started throwing GPU "errors" and having to restart. I also found the Adrenalin software PAINFULLY slow. Did you find same? may just be the rig set up or some thing. Regardless, the system recognises the 10th card but it wont mine properly.

Did you put each card in compute mode, as described in guide I linked (section Mining(Compute) Driver Mode )? I don’t use Adrenalin drivers as my cards are Vega56/64s and they don’t play nice with these drivers.

yes i did. It made a difference in the hash rate but didn't change the number of cards accepted by claymore.

I see. Claymore should work. Can you try running two instances of Claymore, with one instance with first 6 cards and second with last six?

no idea if this is possible. or how it would know which cards work with which instance? right now with more than 9 it just crashes.

Run first instance with -G 0,1,2,3,4,5 and start another with -G 6,7,8,9 etc.

Just saw that claymore uses -di to select GPUs:
-di GPU indexes, default is all available GPUs. For example, if you have four GPUs "-di 02" will enable only first and third GPUs (#0 and #2). You can also turn on/off cards in runtime with "0"..."9" keys and check current statistics with "s" key. For systems with more than 10 GPUs: use letters to specify indexes more than 9, for example, "a" means index 10, "b" means index 11, etc; also "a", "b", and "c" keys allow you to turn on/off GPU #10, #11 and #12 in Runtime
