Funny enough, the only cryptocurrency to gain value over the past 24 hours is DogeCoin – a fork of the Bitcoin protocol that’s based on an Internet meme, which jumped 14.24 percent while Bitcoin lost nearly 23.67 percent of its value during the same period. BY:

So it seems more likely that the lesson learned is that the potential for new cryptocurrencies is infinite, but user interest is not. Even with the crazy created by bitcoins, you must find a new angle to leverage -- a new algorithm, something humorous or attention catching.

Thanks for this. Try making a thread in /r/dogecoin too, loads of users there. You'll get thousands of DOGEs in tips too ! Have not got a single donation here. So i doubt it will be different in there as well. But thats not my concern. I can mine myself. It is different there. It takes flat 5 seconds for the user to tip someone on reddit. It's that fast. It uses advanced bots for it's tipping system. Trust me, make a thread there, make sure to give a catchy title so that you get upvoted to the first page and have massive visibility and therefore more tips. I've seen a single guy tipping 50k DOGE to a user for a contributing thread. http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/1tfxro/doge_themed_gifts_for_our_6_year_old_girl/ce7k9ex
