Now that the creation of alternative blockchains is taking off I think it merits to have a dedicated subforum to avoid the flood of threads in Bitcoin Discussion and Off-topic. Aside from talking about specific chains, this forum could serve to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different changes to satoshi's original design, and to help non programmers who want to fork implement these changes.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

As much as I believe these forks will fail, (hell, one is even designed as a PARODY!) they are clogging up the forum. It'd be great if they could be moved out of the way.

Oh hey, I was just coming to post this

Please, it's annoying as hell

Also, possibly a separate market forum for bitcoin -> other coin trades...

Theymos, this is really getting out of hand. If we aren't going to make a subforum for these, at least archive the existing threads and instruct the mods to delete any new threads for alternative blockchains.

OK, I created it because the alternate cryptocurrencies might be of interest to Bitcoin users. However, this forum remains the Bitcoin Forum. I will definitely not create subsections there: the other currencies should get their own forums.
