In my opinion there is nothing dangerous to buy bitcoin, if the government wants to block, we can use paypal in making transactions.
We should really have some sort of monthly prize for most mind blowing post here....
There is no central server the goverment can shut down and stop it, it's more like torrent traffic but without having to rely on a central website to get your torrents.
You are right but they can try to stop miners from running nodes. They can do so by banning mining all over the world, but they cannot completely stop mining operations since they can opt to mine bitcoins covertly, hiding from the government(but that will basically be rule breaking if they do ban mining all over the world). For now, I think it is less likely because not all governing authorities of every country see bitcoin as bad, some of them see benefits in legalizing it.
First the Op should have defined "government" if this should turn into a serious discussion...
What
gubbermint ? Which country, how many, all of them? And the evil
gubbermint in most countries can't do s*** without a vote from the parliament and so on...
Now, you can't stop miners from having bitcoin nodes just as you can't stop users to run them. Might the worst happen, there was some talk about encrypting the traffic between nodes, and since the traffic is quite small, that would make it almost impossible to detect and stop.
But, if the
gubbermint would really want to go after miners they would not hunt down nodes but power consumption. It's far easier to try and hide a few hundreds megabytes of traffic rather than 3000Kwh a month.
I think buying bitcoin will not be a hazard, because Bitcoin's ban is that in the era of the global internet economy, individual governments have no authority and authority to act against decentralized currencies like Bitcoin.
Governments and the parliament can make it legal to go after anything in this world. Bitcoin, cats , dogs, memes, even coffee tables about coffee tables.
