A lot of those deaths from disease were actually caused by deliberate biological terrorism. Blankets contaminated with small pox and plague pathogens were gifted to the indigenous people in the USA and Brazil.

Actually colonists in Brazil invented some of the most ingenious methods to exterminate the native population. Some of the methods were:

1. Gifting sugar laced with arsenic or strychnine

2. Dumping dead bodies of people infested with Measles, Small pox and Influenza in native areas.

3. Hold a gathering of natives, on the pretext of peace talks and then ambushing them.
