I have a local supplier with the following cards available now. I need to know which are the best bang for the buck. (Not just the fastest, but actually the best price per KhZ and stability). Thanks for your help.
Asus GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 PCIe 3.0 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card Asus GeForce GTX 660 PCIe 3.0 Video Card $199.98 Asus HD7870-DC2-2GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7870 2GB RAM GHz Edition PCI-e GPU Asus Radeon HD 7870 Video Card $219.98

I would guess the Radeon hd 7870. Afaik nvidia gpu's are not very good at mining scrypt.

jimmothy, is that a good price for a new 7870, or should I keep looking? Yes, I know enough not to buy any nvidia cards.
Asus HD7870-DC2-2GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7870 2GB RAM GHz Edition PCI-e GPU Asus Radeon HD 7870 Video Card $219.98

Not a bad price but not the best. I see 7870 going for around $200 everywhere online. As for nvidia, they make great gpu's for gaming IMO but for mining ltc definitely not the best.

MSI Twin Frozers 7870 were going for around $120 at Newegg before Black Friday (11/29/13). Newegg is price gouging right now. Wait until card prices drop.

I made a little excel spreadsheet, that takes in kh/s, wattage, and initial cost, and then will give you results of which has the best ROI. You do need to change the $ or moreso, cent per kilohash constant in it to get an accurate reading in what period of time you could expect to make your money back on the investment, but in terms of relativity, it will give you an accurate result. If interested I could upload it.

Hmmmm... I am thinking of buying a few just to mine with for the next few weeks and then return them before the 30 day return policy expires. By then, my 10x R9 280x should be in.

Please do upload it and post link tubbyjr. I have free electricity (included in the lease), so power is not so much a concern for my rigs.

1. Choose AMD/ATI ... Nvidia isn't for mining. 2. Choose xx90(dualgpu) over xx70(highendgpu) over xx50(normalgpu) over xx30(cheapgpu) 3. Series that are good for mining 58xx, 69xx, 79xx
R9 280+ cards are also good.

I'd expect the price of 7950 going down with the new cards coming out, but the price increase $100 compared a few months ago, what happened there?

1. I know. 2. Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for! 3. OK. I have R9 280x's on order... playing the waiting game but need something to quench my mining thirst for the 1-2 week wait. What about other card brands (due to scarcity)? Asus, XFX etc. A desireability order would help. So yesterday before I saw replies to this thread I was so shocked to see Frys had gotten a new order of graphics cards in since the weekend, that I sprang and bought 2 x Radeon HD 7850's for $199 each. They also had 7770's which I passed on. Should I use them or return them? (or use them for 29 days and return them before the return policy expires?) I also saw a bunch of new cards in the $1000 range that had 6 GB each! Are those any good or are you basically paying for the premium of having all that power on one card?

Asus Radeon HD 7790 PCIe 3.0 x16 1GB GDDR5 Video Card Radeon HD 7790 1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card $129.98 ^^^^
If You would like to reach Your hashing nirvana with rigs close to You, You should choose 7790 cards. Less than 250 KHash/s, but... 50% fans, 50C, and around 50W according to GPU-z. Silent. Cool...
